Social entrepreneurship brand Touch of Craft of the late Emily Campos relaunches with a new collection and renewed fervour under the creative eye of the founder's eldest daughter Jo Anne Carceller Kessler

Celebrated for its exquisite array of handcrafted accessories and decorative items, Touch of Craft has proudly stood at the forefront of artisanal decor since 1986. Founded on the inspiring principle of "Art Handmade" by its visionary creator, Emily Campos, Touch of Craft has evolved into a beloved destination for those seeking delightful and imaginative crafts. More than just a brand renowned for Christmas decor, it embodies a commitment to social entrepreneurship, championing the talents of underprivileged women artisans in the Philippines. Through its unique offerings, Touch of Craft not only enriches homes with beautiful creations but also empowers local communities, fostering a spirit of creativity and sustainable livelihood.

Jo Anne Carceller Kessler stepped into the shoes of her late mother last May 2022 as the business' new leader, which rebrands its name to Touch of Craft Legacy, carrying on the mission of Campos and her brainchild company.

During the heartwarming gathering of friends and patrons of Touch of Craft at the Manila Polo Club, Kessler recalled the early beginnings of the said business, paying homage to the indomitable spirit of Campos.

"Mama would be the host for all of Papa's social gatherings and was known for her unique, meticulously-made, handcrafted accents such as her napkin holders, place cards, and personalised gift baskets," Kessler said. "Though she was well known within Papa's executive circle, Touch of Craft slowly came into being as Mama began participating in their company's annual charity bazaars. Needless to say, Mama's creations were a sell-out success," she continued.

From local bazaars to global trade shows, Campos exported these Philippine-made handcrafted products that would solidify Touch of Craft's reputation among globally renowned brands like Bloomingdale's, Pier One, and E Comte Ingles. "Travelling as far as the US, Australia, and Europe, and most especially in Germany where I was based for many years, handling our export business and online store," Kessler said pertaining to her devoted mother.

"To keep pace with growing demands, Mama took underprivileged women under her wing and trained them to become skilled artisans. She would work by their side, mentoring and making works of art," she said.

Like her artisans, Campos mentored Kessler as well during Touch of Craft's early years. "Being her eldest daughter, I was her shadow at every bazaar, trade show, and business transaction. We both learnt the ropes of designing, crafting, managing, and exporting the goods that would eventually grow into the Touch of Craft brand we know today," she shared.

Campos peacefully passed away last November 2021, just a few weeks after she shared with Tatler the story of Touch of Craft and what they were looking forward to for the Christmas season.

At the end of her speech, Kessler announced that Touch of Craft will then be known as Touch of Craft Legacy, "as I carry on what shall be a celebration of Mama's life, and all the lives she has touched through her generosity and creative will," she said.

Never-before-seen pieces and handcrafted designs both by Campos and Kessler have been exhibited at the exclusive trunk show, as well as a sneak peek of the 2022 holiday collection. Staying true to its mission, Touch of Craft Legacy is here to beautify the world's living spaces with "Art Handmade".
