Don't miss: 2021 Recap: Tatler Singapore's Most Read Interviews This Year

1. Cheryl Han, co-founder of Orchard Clinic

Last year, Cheryl Han sat down with Tatler to speak to us about how she got retrenched from her marketing and external communications role and decided to use her passion for yoga to open Orchard Clinic, a postpartum centre.

Her centre treats common postpartum conditions such as vaginal laxity, skin laxity and diastasis recti (a condition seen in women during and after pregnancy that results in the separation of the muscles along the midline of the abdomen).

Today, Orchard Clinic is preparing to open its third outlet and we found out just how she did it.

Did you know that only approximately five per cent of orthopaedic surgeons in the United States are women, according to a report by the Association of American Medical Colleges? This means that it is the lowest percentage of female representation in any medical speciality out there.

Not only is Dr Tan Sok Chuen one of only two female private orthopaedic surgeons in Singapore, she is also the only female hip and knee surgeon in Singapore. She also defied all the odds to set up her own private practice, Hip & Knee Orthopaedics in the middle of a pandemic.

Dr Claudine Pang is a force to behold. She is an internationally recognised retinal eye surgeon who runs her own eye clinic, founded a non-profit organisation, Eye Care Without Borders, wrote a book and still manages to be around for her two young children every day.

As someone who knew exactly what she wanted to do from a very young age, Pang's strategic climb to the top is certainly a story worth hearing.

Yet, she somehow manages it all with grit, the determination to succeed and a stellar team behind her.

Sarah Ng, the director and founder of Daughters Diamonds, grew up watching her mother, a jewellery designer, create and sell her creations. So it really was not a surprise when Ng decided to branch out and start her own diamond store.

Here's how she transformed her mother's store from the ground up and how she managed to land a prestigious storefront in Paragon during the pandemic.
