Starr Chen entered the music industry as a rapper in 2009, later forming the rap group Young Souljaz, which gained popularity in Taiwan due to its lively tunes and witty lyrics. In 2010, Chen joined the Taiwanese music company EGGO Music Production and began exploring pop music. He served as the producer and arranger for the song “3D舞力全失”, before going on to produce numerous songs for popular singers such as A-Mei, Jeannie Hsieh and Show Luo.

In 2014, Chen's music caught the attention of singer Jolin Tsai, and he participated in the music arrangement for her live performance at the 25th Golden Melody Awards. Subsequently, Chen further collaborated with Tsai, composing and producing four songs for her album Play. The eponymous lead single earned Chen nominations for Best Arrangement and Best Single Producer at the 26th Golden Melody Awards.

In 2016, Chen released his first solo album, Welcome to the Next Level. The album won the Best Album Packaging Design Award at the 28th Golden Melody Awards, making Chen the first musician in Golden Melody Awards history to receive a cross-disciplinary award.

Chen co-founded Chill Entertainment with his partner Shrimp Kang in 2020. The company includes the hip-hop brand ASIAFREAKS along with other artists, songwriters and producers, as well as event planning and A&R (artists and repertoire) services.

Starr Chen is married to celebrity stylist Stars Xu, who is often referred to as the "Street Queen" due to her stylish streetwear. In the early days of the Wretch blogging platform, she was nicknamed “Zhou Xingxing” and already had a unique fashion sense that garnered a significant number of followers. Currently, she is the head of the NLF (NoLimitsFun) brand. Stars Xu has collaborated with numerous domestic and international brands, as well as celebrities like Rihanna, being designated as their preferred collaborator.
