Loh Yi Jun

Food writer/podcaster

A chemical engineer by training and a food lover at heart, he is now an empowering figure in food education

Ditching chemical engineering labs for the steaming pots and pans in the kitchen, Loh Yi Jun has carved a thriving career in food writing, recipe developing, and podcasting. Immediately after graduating from Cambridge University in the UK, Loh took off for the world of gastronomy.

He spent a few formative years in Paris and New York before returning home to become one of the most prolific and knowledgeable food writers here. Loh also spends his days publishing recipe videos, hosting various food podcasts (including Taste Buddies on Apple, hosted with fellow foodie figures Hong of Grub by Ah Hong and Chin Ren Yi of myBurgerLab), and discovering all the flavours that Asian ingredients have to offer.

In June 2022, Loh’s efforts were rewarded when he was named a member of the 50 Next’s Class of 2022. The recognition listed his ability to use and highlight food as a tool in education and development. Loh was the sole Malaysian on the list.
