As we bid adieu to summer, the Tatler community share some of their most cherished memories, snapshots and destinations

As we come back from our summer vacations, we asked our friends to share their most treasured travel photos. Each image tells a unique story, capturing unforgettable moments and the emotions connected to their adventures.

Jaime Ponce de Leon

Perched atop the Peggy Guggenheim Museum’s private rooftop, with the Grand Canal unfolding below—a rare view made possible through a dear friend who once worked there. I love this photo for the quiet privilege it captures: art, history and the hush of Venice at eye level with its soul.

Holidays for us centre around how best we can get our kids to experience travelling the world, delving into the local activities and cuisines each country offers. They are at that age where they absorb everything like a sponge, and it is with them that our enthusiasm for exploration and adventure comes alive! They still love to hang with us, so we are capitalising on this as best we can. Our eldest is part of the Millfield School choir, which held a concert tour last July within the basilicas and churches around the Rhineland-Palatinate. As history enthusiasts and budding antiquarians, we soaked in all the picturesque medieval towns and castles dotted all around the Rhine River.

Hôtel du Cap Eden Roc is always a good idea. With its stunning view and pool immortalised by Slim Aarons, it’s a Côte d’Azur staple.

I went to the Naoshima New Museum of Art, the latest museum of Tadao Ando on the art island of Naoshima, Japan. I like its minimalism and the interplay of light and shadow, and it shows Ando’s brilliance in creating natural light space volumes.

This family photo was taken over the summer on Goudge Island in Vancouver, Canada. When we’re here, we spend our days going on nature walks, playing in open playgrounds and biking through the parks. We love being outdoors and unplugging from the everyday noise. Indoors, we reconnect through games, art and creative activities. It’s in these moments, big and small, that we make our most treasured memories.

My husband brought me to Laolongtou, the “Old Dragon’s Head”, where the Great Wall of China meets the Bohai Sea in Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province. This remarkable section of the Wall, shaped like a dragon dipping its head into the water, marks its easternmost point. Unlike the more crowded Badaling section near Beijing, Laolongtou is seldom visited by foreign tourists, which made it one of my favourite places I’ve ever visited.

I chanced upon this beautiful jewellery store while walking in the small town of Puerto Ayora in Santa Cruz, Ecuador. Puerto Ayora is home to the Charles Darwin Foundation and the Galapagos National Park. I didn’t expect to find this architectural gem in a sleepy town full of the usual kitschy tourist offerings. There is not a single straight line or off-the-shelf adornment on the building’s organic façade. Every detail of the gate, structure and landscape was custom-designed to echo the randomness of nature.
