Cover Conrad Singapore Orchard’s lavish Conrad Suite is a peaceful respite from the city’s hustle and bustle

A luxurious and relaxing experience awaits when you stay at the newly refurbished Conrad Singapore Orchard

With so much going on in our lives, it’s important to take breaks to relax and rejuvenate. While some may do so by opting to travel abroad, others may prefer a staycation instead.

Enter Conrad Hotels & Resorts’s latest Singapore property: Conrad Singapore Orchard. Located in the heart of Orchard Road, the hotel is surrounded by lush greenery and offers a blend of nature’s serenity and urban vibrancy—a perfect getaway for tourists and locals looking for a respite from the city’s hustle and bustle.

After a year of extensive reinvention and refurbishment, the hotel has finally opened. So, when Tatler Singapore was offered the opportunity to experience a one-night stay at the property, we jumped at the chance.

First Impressions

Stepping into the hotel, we were met with the hotel’s curated art collection. Around the lobby, we found various contemporary pieces by local and regional artists that put the spotlight on the island’s rich botanical heritage. Once we entered, we were swiftly welcomed and brought to our suite for in-room check-in—a complimentary service for all guests staying in the Conrad Suite.

As we headed up to our suite in the glass elevator, Japanese sculptor Michio Ihara’s Singapore Shower caught our attention. The stunning centrepiece hangs from the ninth floor, filling the hotel’s skylit atrium and glistening under the sun.

Among the 445 newly imagined rooms in the hotel, we were pampered with the most luxurious one: the Conrad Suite. Located on the highest floor, the 210 sqm suite is lavish, to say the least, with expansive private balconies overlooking the city, generous living and dining areas, and more. The separate bed area comprises a king-sized bed connected to a walk-in wardrobe, and an elegant bathroom fitted with Byredo bathroom amenities and a sleek bathtub.

Like the rest of the guest rooms and suites in the hotel, the botanical-inspired Conrad Suite features serene hues and natural tones in sand, cream and muted greens. The room is also accented with plant motifs, potted tropical trees and prints by Singaporean artists. Upon stepping in, the suite’s warm design and atmosphere made us feel instantly at ease and relaxed.

While the suite accommodates up to four guests, the dining area can host up to eight, making it a great space for hosting dinner parties. We were also told that the suite connects to two separate executive balcony rooms with individual entrances. This means those travelling in larger groups can stay close together while still having privacy in their own rooms.

The Extras

Speaking of serene spaces, the hotel boasts multiple facilities made for relaxing, including an outdoor pool, fitness centre and Executive Lounge. The latter is located on the 11th floor and is exclusively available for suite guests. The hotel’s warm and inviting atmosphere extends into the lounge and is complete with wooden accents and green plants. Both indoor and outdoor seating areas are available and overlook the city.

The hotel also offers plenty of mindfulness experiences to complement its tranquil spaces. For example, the Morning Intention Session by the pool features various workouts and classes that will leave you feeling refreshed for the day. For us, we opted for a Private Morning Intention session, one of the many complimentary private in-room experiences available for those staying in the Conrad Suite.

Curated by local holistic wellness centre Trapeze Rec Club, the hour-long Private Morning Intention session began with some breath work and stretches to wake the body up. This was followed by a soothing 30-minute sound bath. Throughout the experience, our instructor was very attentive to our needs, ensuring that we were as comfortable as possible.

As the sun set, we were pampered with a private Manhattan experience in our suite. The hour-long session was led by Manhattan’s head bartender Zana Mohlmann, who had pushed the bar’s iconic Manhattan trolley up to our room. Mohlmann truly brought the Manhattan experience to us as she skilfully whipped up two of the bar’s signature concoctions: Manhattan and Negroni. She also shared more about these cocktails and how they were crafted from house-made ingredients at the bar’s in-hotel rick house.

Not only had the hotel brought the Manhattan experience to our room, but we were also treated to a private dining experience by Basilico’s chef de cuisine Davide del Gatto. The dinner began with a lavish appetiser spread comprising aged taleggio cheese, white chocolate and truffle-infused gorgonzola, cured parma ham, and fresh burrata, among others. We were surprised at the extensive selection of appetisers which were brought up to the room. Then, we indulged in homemade pappardelle with Tuscan duck ragout—an exclusive dish that’s not available on Basilico’s menu—and beautifully grilled Florentine steak.

Our tantalising dishes were paired with glasses of vino, like the Tenuta Calimaia Vino Nobile di Montelpuciano 2019 and Livio Felluga delle Venezie Sharis 2021.

Above Learn more about Singapore’s flora and fauna at the Edible Garden Walk experience

Beyond its rooms and facilities, the hotel boasts plenty of tailor-made experiences. For example, guests can learn more about local edible botanicals on the Edible Garden Walk. Led by expert arborists, this experience takes us on a stroll from the hotel to Singapore Botanic Gardens as we learn more about local landscapes, flora and fauna. At the end of our experience, we were surprised at how many edible plants we found along the way—we even got to try some of these plants that had been harvested from our guide’s garden. The experience is also complete with a tasting set that we could savour either at the gardens or back in the hotel. The specially curated set also featured some of the edible plants we saw on our walk.
