Set to open in 2025, Mandarin Oriental in The Maldives will feature some of the largest villas in the archipelago

Mandarin Oriental is set to bring its fans an exciting new experience in 2025—a private island resort in The Maldives.

The resort is currently being developed on a pristine Indian Ocean site, stretching across not one, but three private islands on Bolidhuffaru Reef in South Male Atoll, where guests can immerse themselves in the white sand beaches and the vibrant coral reefs that The Maldives is known for.

Mandarin Oriental is focused on developing its resort portfolio and has been looking to enter The Maldives for some time. This project represents the right opportunity for the Group” said James Riley, Chief Executive of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.

Here's what we know about Mandarin Oriental's private island in The Maldives so far.

There will be six dining outlets, including three speciality restaurants and a sunset bar. The world-renowned Mandarin Oriental Spa will be located within a tropical garden, with 12 private treatment suites, vitality pools, sauna and steam rooms as well as a beauty salon.

The resort will include 56 overwater villas and 64 beachfront villas, each with private pools and sweeping ocean views. There will also be 10 branded Residences at Mandarin Oriental—the hotel group's collection of private residences—available for sale.

Ranging in size from 200 to 1,000 square metres, the villas at Mandarin Oriental in The Maldives will be some of the largest in the market.
