The irrepressibly hip The Standard will check in its first guests in the Thai capital in May 2022

Known for its "unconventional and playful sensibility", The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon will make its much-anticipated debut on May 11, 2022. Boasting only 155 rooms, it is located in the King Power Mahanakhon Building in the heart of the Silom/Sathorn business district. The hotel is already accepting reservations.

When it opens, it will be The Standard's second address in Thailand (after its resort in Hua Hin) and its flagship hotel in Asia. The hotel is designed by Spanish designer Jaime Hayon, taking into account Bangkok's tropical locale and vibrant culture. Expect to see lots of greenery, vibrant colours and fluid shapes.

Apart from the well-appointed suites—and if the teaser images are any indication, they will rival the super-chic urban sophistication of the London and New York hotels—other highlights include the outdoor terrace pool, the acclaimed Mott 32 restaurant and the highest sky beach in Bangkok.

“There is nothing in Bangkok, or the entire region, like what we have created here,” said Amar Lalvani, executive chairman for Standard International. “We love the energy, style and culture Bangkok offers and couldn’t be more proud to partner with King Power to open our flagship for the region in this awe inspiring building, in this incredible city."

According to its website, The Standard is also slated open in Singapore and Melbourne.
