Lopud 1483, Croatia

Lopud 1483 is a restored 15th-century monastery. Transformed into a haven where history, art, and botanical exploration unite the senses, it is one of the many luxury villas that boast peaceful interiors, gardens, and a fortress, offering plenty of space for family and friends to relax and enjoy the undiscovered beauty of the Elaphiti archipelago.

Shinta Mani Wild, Cambodia

Landscape architect Bill Bensley described Shinta Mani Wild as “a utopia of sustainability.” It is a resort that doubles as a research and conservation centre.

The space culminates everything Bensley has learned over years of making hotels. He first bought the land with his friend Sokoun Chandpreda, hoping to save it from poaching and logging. This became the heart of the project.

The Masseria sits in its four-hectare private gardens with the gorgeous Canale di Pirro valley view.

Situated on the Tuscan coast, the Castello Granduca castle is a treasure trove of history. Over the years, it has been the residence of many Tuscan Grand Dukes. The architecture, furnishings, and décor are of a late 16th-century noble Tuscan style.

The villa can arrange various activities and excursions during guests’ stays. These include visits to wineries and olive mills, boat trips to Elba, horseback riding, tennis, and massages.

Nuuk Taal, Philippines

Like Nuuk Taal’s namesake, it is ‘off the beaten path’ but worth discovering. Before its renovation, it was a secluded family vacation home for over thirty years.

Housing a collection of European and Asian artefacts alongside a blend of modern Scandinavian furnishings and Filipiniana accents, the property’s interiors reflect its rich history and personality.

Located in the Maquis shrubland of southern Italy, Villa Trullo comprises eleven cones set into a vast estate surrounded by an array of fruit trees, including olives, pomegranates, and prickly pears.

Even though the property itself is steeped in history, with a portion of the grounds designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the feel of the place, both inside and out, is anything but mediaeval. There are lavishly furnished rooms and a bar mere metres from the swimming pool.

Villa Zelie, Bali

Although Bali is already a travel hotspot, it still offers peaceful places. Villa Zelie is one of Bali’s heritage-chic holiday luxury villas merely 150 metres away from Canggu Beach.

Villa Zelie’s distinctive style, grand scale, and central location distinguish it from other Canggu villas. Its beautiful teak and ironwood buildings, inspired by traditional Javanese joglo pavilions and gladak houses, are embellished with handcrafted furniture and treasures selected by the villa’s owner.
