To meet the evolving expectations of discerning travellers, private jet interiors are now being designed with not only luxury in mind but also cutting-edge technology, enhancing the experience far beyond mere transportation.
According to Globe Air, one of Europe’s leading private jet operators, demand for private aviation has soared since COVID-19. Travellers are increasingly choosing private jets over business class, valuing the added convenience and heightened safety.

Interestingly, the demographic of private jet clients is also shifting. Kenn Ricci, head of Directional Aviation Capital, notes that their emerging customer base is, on average, a decade younger than before. This generational change has driven renewed focus on cabin design, as airlines look to elevate the onboard experience to suit this more design-conscious clientele.
From tight quarters to floating galleries
For many jet owners, these aircraft are an extension of personal identity, showcasing taste and lifestyle at 40,000 feet. Faced with limited space, interior designers work to craft surroundings that enable effortless work, relaxation and entertainment. The environment must reflect the individuality of the owner, without compromising on function or comfort.
Bespoke details are at the heart of private jet interiors. Every element is considered, from spatial layout to colour palettes, materials and technology. In some jets, even the walls become canvases, displaying curated artworks chosen to reflect the owner’s aesthetic. These pieces lend visual character and contribute to a richer, more immersive travel experience. As a result, design houses such as Winch Design, Greenpoint Technologies and Artelier Art Consultancy are increasingly sought after to create interiors where art and luxury intertwine.
Wellbeing is also high on the agenda. Today’s luxury jets are kitted out with amenities aimed at enhancing both physical and mental comfort. Lufthansa Technik’s CelestialSTAR BBJ-777-9, valued at $400 million, is one of the most lavish examples. With more than 340 square metres of cabin space, it features a spa-style bathroom complete with rain shower and massage facilities, ideal for unwinding mid-flight. In the bedroom, walls can be transformed into a private cinema or used to display panoramic imagery and digital art.
Some carriers are even thinking beyond human passengers. Many luxury jets now incorporate features for pets, designed with their wellbeing in mind. Globe Air, for instance, offers cabins with dedicated pet zones, ensuring comfort and security in the skies. The airline has even operated flights exclusively for pets, while their owners await them at the destination.
Leveraging technology to deliver superior experiences
Beyond creative interior concepts, today’s most exclusive private jets also incorporate cutting-edge technology to meet the growing expectations of discerning travellers.
Take, for instance, the $105 million Airbus ACJ320neo, commissioned by Pinto Agency and designed by Acropolis Aviation. This aircraft is a masterclass in making the most of limited cabin space. In a thoughtful design move, Pinto Agency removed the overhead compartments to create an airier interior, allowing for the installation of a bespoke LED lighting system. Passengers can adjust the lights to suit their mood, with colour and effects tailored to personal preference. The space is finished with a glossy wood grain and rich brown seating, creating a warm ambience that enhances the impact of the lighting.
Elsewhere, the B787-8, styled by Natalie Rodriguez Luxury Design, blends high-end technology with refined comfort, placing wellbeing at the centre of the experience. In the lounge, television screens are cleverly hidden behind artworks and can disappear when not in use, maintaining a clean visual aesthetic. The aircraft also boasts a generously sized bathroom with full amenities, as well as a dedicated wellness suite complete with treadmills and stationary bikes.
