Idyllic, beautiful, and sustainable for all—future farms are the latest tourism trend in the Philippines, and it's not going away any time soon
How often have we yearned to get away from the big city? Big cities can become extremely tiring despite their busy charm and glamorous perception. As the pandemic eases, the Department of Tourism (DOT) is launching a new campaign that aims to cure us all of cabin fever and introduce us to an exciting—though not necessarily novel—side of the Philippines: farms.
See: Future Farms, a digital campaign that aims to promote farm tourism to travellers looking for a breath of fresh air (literally).

In 2018, before the word "pandemic" had entered our lexicon, the DOT had already been strengthening the development and promotion of farm tourism. They'd been investing, innovating, and diversifying the sector, doing their best to develop recreational and leisure activities for tourists. Not only is this new type of travel sustainable for the environment, but it also gives farm owners a chance to employ more people and introduce new guests to exciting agri-tourism products that may not be mainstream for now.
The Future Farms campaign introduces viewers to videos that take us to "must-see" farms in the Philippines. While diverse, each farm possesses innovative traits; they are product-centric and machine-oriented but are still scenic and idyllic enough for tourists to enjoy. These include sites such as Diaspora Farm and Resort in Pampanga, Amancio Nicolas Agri-Tourism Academy in Isabela, Yamang Bukid in Palawan, Orchard Valley Farm in Iloilo, Vita Isola Leisure Farm in Bohol, Damires Hills Tierra Verde in Iloilo, Taglucop Strawberry Hills in Bukidnon, Agriya Farm in Davao del Norte, and JB Nature Farm & Resort in Surigao City.
Anyone who wants to get in touch with their green side will be able to view these inspiring videos on the Tourism Philippines Youtube channel. Who knows? It may even inspire you to pack your bags and head out to a farm yourself!
