1. Renaissance Bar

Situated within the iconic Badrutt’s Palace Hotel, the standard for luxury in St Moritz, Renaissance Bar is the place to go if you’re looking for an Old World sense of sophistication—jackets are, after all, required after 7pm, and smoking is permitted (with the finest selection of cigars, of course). The St Moritzino is the classic drink of choice here, expertly concocted by chef des bars Matteo Oddo with Cointreau, fresh lime and orgeat syrup, making for a refreshing aperitif before dinner. If you’re in the mood for pure indulgence, however, opt for a cocktail made with only the top-shelf stuff. The “Stardust Bellini”, for instance, is made with Rémy Martin Louis XIII and Dom Perignon 2008, some of the most treasured cognacs and champagnes, dusted with gold powder.

Besides modern bistro cuisine by British chef Jason Atherton, you’ll find innovative cocktails such as the “Curry Me Home” where cognac gets a spicy kick with curry powder, coconut cream and fresh lime, or the “Porcini” starring porcini-infused vodka for an umami punch. If not, opt for a selection of some of the finest champagnes with labels from Dom Pérignon to Louis Roederer Cristal to keep your night electric with live DJs and musicians.

With stunning views of the Engadin Valley and Lake St. Moritz, the 364-year-old Chesa Veglia is one destination worthy of any bucket list. The former farmhouse now plays host to five dining concepts, including an eponymous pizzeria famed for its moreish truffle cheese pizza and Patrizier Stuben, a rustic Swiss restaurant. For a classy tipple or two, hang back in style at the charming Polo Bar where its walls are adorned with beautiful illustrations that depict the renaissance period. It is also where the senate decided to make Romansh the fourth national language of Switzerland. And if you ever find yourself stuck in the pesky long waitlist of the lauded restaurants, you now know where to go to hang back in style with a glass in hand.

What was once the Olympic Ice Pavillion in 1905 is now the iconic Kulm Country Club. Originally opened in 2017, it recently underwent an SG$18 million dollar facelift and expansion overseen by St. Moritz local and star architect Lord Norman Foster. At the bar, historic sports gear and memorabilia by sporting legends decorate the walls, reflecting the lauded legacy of the St. Moritz sporting heritage. Behind the bar is Andrea Paci, the winning bartender of the Como Lake Cocktail Week, serving up sublime signature cocktails from refreshing spritzers and grand margaritas to truly Bond-worthy martinis. For spirits enthusiasts, the bar also doubles as a gin library, where you can sip and savour over 70 types of gins. During winter, the club’s extensive sun terrace overlooks the private ice rink that comes with a majestic backdrop of the surrounding Engadine Mountains—if you’re willing to brave the chills.

7. La Scarpetta
This cosy Italian restaurant has been the talk of the town since it first opened its doors during the winter of 2018. Modelled after the comforts of a rustic living room, La Scarpetta is founded by a trio of young wine enthusiasts. Thus, the wine list is exceptionally curated featuring firm Old-World favourites like Nebbiolo from Piedmont, Italy, while micro wine producers are given the spotlight with a respectable showing of natural and orange wines. Up for a splurge? Consider a harvest of rarer finds—think powerful Super Tuscans from Sassicaia, salacious reds from Domaine du Clos de Tart, and the legendary Chateau Latour 1986. And if the pasta-draped windows didn’t allude to an order of freshly made pasta to pair with your wines, we don’t know what else will.
