Next for the Malaysian motorsport athlete is the Macau GP, where she will be the only female driver on the grid against top drivers from around the world

With the roar of engines and the flash of checkered flags, Malaysian motorsport sensation Leona Chin has raced her way to victory in the 2024 CCSC China Circuit Sprint Challenge BMW M235i Cup, spectacularly taking the championship crown.

It’s been a thrilling season of resilience and tenacity for Chin, who conquered everything from the scorching 40°C heat of the summer rounds to the icy track conditions in winter’s showdown at Tianjin’s V1 International Circuit.

Chin, a renowned motorsports athlete and Front & Female Awards 2023 nominee dominated the winter round, capturing pole position and clinching back-to-back wins, which secured her first championship in this high-octane series.

Her win has drawn congratulations from netizens and fellow athletes, including Singaporean racer Shane Ang Shiyuan and Malaysian bowling champion Nora Lyana Nastasia.

Reflecting on the season’s challenges, she said, “This season truly tested my endurance and focus. I’m incredibly grateful to my team for their support throughout and to the CCSC organisers for an amazing series.”

Chin’s determination to make her mark despite limited sponsorship is another mark of her resilient, never-say-never attitude. Now, with the championship title in hand, she hopes to draw new supporters, setting her sights on an even bigger stage: the Macau GP. Known as the ‘World Cup of Motorsports’ this event will see her line up as the only female driver taking on elite racers from around the world.

Beyond her own ambitions, Chin has become somewhat of a pioneer for women in motorsports.

Her work extends off the track. In 2022, she was instrumental in launching the Pink Stuff Sodi Ladies Cup in Malaysia, an all-female karting competition designed to open doors for aspiring female racers.
