Bells rang at Basilica di Santa Sabina as Tosca Augustin and Paulo Ruspoli celebrated a lavish union that bridged continents, cultures, and history in the heart of Rome
The essence of Rome reverberates through its sounds, from the energetic hum of Vespas to the gentle symphony of water flowing at the Trevi Fountain. Additionally, for Tosca Marie Augustin and Paulo Misasi Ruspoli, the majestic peal of bells at the Basilica di Santa Sabina all’Aventino solidified their bond. “Paulo and I are convinced that it’s the most exquisite church in Rome,” Augustin says.
With the city steeped in history and romance serving as the immaculate setting, it was only fitting for their wedding to take place there. The celebration extended beyond just one night, allowing the couple and their friends from Brazil, the US, Europe and the Philippines to savour every moment.

Eager to embrace the heart of the matter, the wedding ceremony took precedence. With the expertise of floral designer Andrea Patrizi and decorator Ferdinando Sciarrini, every aspect was meticulously crafted to reflect the couple’s unique vision down to the minutest detail.

“The most heartwarming moment was the Filipino tradition of the veil, cord and candle,” Augustin says. “I was so happy to include that in the ceremony, especially with the presence of His Eminence Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle.”
Following the nuptials was a reception dinner amid a stunning view of Rome with the Vatican in the background.

The next day, the couple held a party at Castello Ruspoli, the Ruspoli family castle in Vignanello. Streamlining the dinner was crucial, as the true highlight lay in the following festivities. Guests were treated to a Brazilian street party and a fireworks display, beautifully captured by wedding photographers Daniele & Marilia.
“It was so moving to see how surprised and happy the guests were,” shares Augustin. None of this would have been possible without the expertise of wedding planner Diletta Alliata Events.

“Now, Paulo is family, and I feel that changes a lot in my perspective. My life with him and our future family is the most important thing, and I feel that this influences every decision I make.”
Castello Ruspoli is memorable to the newlyweds for triggering their heartfelt reunion. “Paulo and I first met over ten years ago in Brazil. We had a little fling, but we were in our mid-20s, so we never thought of anything serious,” Augustin says. “About four years ago, after I changed my legal career to wellness, I organised retreats worldwide and wanted to do the next one in a castle.”

A dear friend reminded Augustin of Ruspoli’s family-owned castle, prompting her to contact him via Facebook. “I didn’t even have his number or Instagram,” she says. “We hadn’t spoken in years. But I asked if we could host a retreat at his family’s castle, and he was thrilled. We started organising this incredible retreat and fell for each other again. This time, it was intense!” Eventually, Ruspoli proposed with a unique ring: a family heirloom from his great-great-grandmother, Franca Florio.
Now married, the couple has profoundly shifted their perspectives on life. “Our life together and our future family is the most important thing now,” says Augustin. “It resonates in every decision we make.”
