The best seat in the house come New Year’s Eve is right on the Avenue Deck of Manila House
As it does every year, Taguig City put on a spectacular fireworks display that lit up the sky in a kaleidoscope of colours, eliciting non-stop oohs and aahs from the moment the clock struck midnight on January 1 up until the first 10 minutes into the new year. And in the open air of the deck, eight storeys above the city, the night was like a giant screen just a little higher than eye level, broadcasting the fireworks live.
Before midnight, members and their guests sat down to enjoy a fabulous six-course meal replete with caviar, foie gras and wagyu steak, not to mention the showstopping millefeuille with fresh fruits for dessert, all accompanied by champagne and fine wines. Joining their families were Charlie Rufino, with wife Chinit and son JV; Lily O’Boyle with her son William and his wife and children; Bobby Cuenca with his sons Diego and Rodrigo and stepson Teddy Manotoc; the Saudi Arabian ambassador Hisham Al-Qahtani with his wife and children, including his son Abdulrahman, who was celebrating his birthday that evening. Loyal members who have been regulars at all of the Manila House NYE celebrations since the club first opened its doors in 2017 were also present, among them Jan van Heeswijk, with his wife Ramona Ang and son Julian; Griffin and Nina Golamco with their youngsters Mason and Lauren; the Lal, Neelam and the rest of the Gopwani clan; and David Ackerman and his brood.
