Maja Salvador and Rambo Nuñez tied the knot in Bali, the Island of the Gods
A year of dating failed to bring Maja Salvador and Rambo Nuñez to the altar. “Work came in the way,” says Nuñez. “As young individuals establishing our careers, we were not letting opportunities pass.” But fate can be stubborn sometimes, trying once more in 2019, 10 years after they first met, to bring the two together. “This time, I chose love over career,” Salvador proudly says. Rekindling the love they once lost, both were not about to let go of each other anymore.

Nuñez wanted no less than a perfect proposal. So he spent years of planning and a whole week of execution. “I’ve had the ring since 2020 but waited for that perfect moment to pop the question,” he says. What made it complicated was his wish that Salvador’s mum, Thelma Andres, (now Linklater), who was in Canada, be present.

In April 2022, she finally came home to visit. Nuñez did not waste time. “I asked for her permission when we were in Pangulasian while my family was in Puerto Princesa already preparing for the Easter proposal,” he shares. “Maja is tough to surprise, so successfully pulling it off made the proposal even more special. On top of this, we held it amid our families, together for the first time.”
The destination wedding has 220 guests in Bali. “Most of them stayed at The Apurva Kempinski Bali spread out between the villas, suites and deluxe rooms,” says Nuñez, who ensured everyone had a comfortable time. “It was great being with both sides of the family together. Our best friends even coined a new term after the wedding: ‘best friends-inlaw’,” he adds.

Bali is a dream destination for both the newlyweds. “Since I was young,” shares Salvador, “it has given me this certain energy and has healed me in different ways.” Her partner agrees, “It’s also the kind of energy that brought us back together.”
According to Nuñez, the French formal garden theme was inspired by the setting of Chanel’s Spring-Summer 2018 haute. “We wanted just white flowers with greens and natural elements. It complemented the natural architecture of The Apurva Kempinski Bali,” shares the groom who wanted to follow the dream wedding of his bride, who loves Chanel.
On July 31, 2023, a few hours before sunset, Salvador walked down the aisle in a Zuhair Murad gown and Nuñez in a Dolce & Gabbana ensemble. They exchanged their vows on this mystical island before family and friends.

“Everything was magical,” the bride remembers. But it would not have been possible without the help of Rambo’s mum, the PR extraordinaire Marilen Roa Nuñez. “It has been very easy for us because of Mum,” agrees the groom. “We have our company [Forthinker, Inc.] doing all the groundwork, ensuring all preparations and logistics proceed smoothly. While we were hands-on, everything was laid out well for us, and we just needed to decide on what we wanted.”
The future excites both husband and wife. “Bigger things lie ahead of us. We’re taking a big step, so we need to apply everything we’ve learnt through the years, all the learnings we’ve had and apply it to the next phase of our lives,” says Nuñez. “We have differences, but we will always make it work,” promises Salvador. “We have each other now, and that’s the best decision ever.”
