Heart Evangelista and Senator Chiz Escudero renews marriage vows in Balesin Island
Most couples renew their wedding vows on their fifth or seventh anniversary. However, Senator Chiz Escudero and his wife, Heart Evangelista, chose to do so in their ninth year of being together. In Balesin Royal Villa at Balesin Island, exactly where they first said their “I do’s,” the couple invited family and friends to witness their reaffirmation of vows.
“Come what may. It rains, it pours; it doesn’t matter. If it rains, it would still be okay because it’s the same as our love story,” said Heart during their wedding in 2015. It did become okay. As she walked down the aisle in an Ellie Saab couture gown, and Chiz in his own Dior suit, guests marvelled at a beautiful couple who admittedly had their fair share of challenges in their marriage.

“Getting married the second time around—we’re even now,” Heart joked while she faced Chiz during the ceremony. “[It] still seems like it’s actually my first, and I do truly believe it’s my first time. Because... I knew what love was before. But now I know what love should be.”

“It’s been nearly a decade, and we’ve been through a lot of highs and a lot of lows,” Chiz said. “There was a time when I wished and prayed to God that my tomorrow would become the present, and the present would become the past. Today, He granted my wish.”

This wedding is also meaningful, especially since Heart’s mother, Cecile, unlike in the first wedding, was present. “My heart is overflowing with gratitude knowing that almost a decade after our wedding, we’re still blessed with amazing people who have shown us love and support throughout our marriage,” Heart shared.
At the afterparty, the bride donned a beaded gown glistening with Swarovski crystals, and a cape designed by Michael Leyva. She was at the heart of the celebrations, even sharing a duet of Steven
Curtis Chapman’s I Will Be Here with Mark Bautista. The wedding band, 3rd Avenue, serenaded the guests as well.

“I sold my soul, and you bought it back for me. You have softened all the edges, you’ve rearranged the stars and you have pulled them down to where I am. You have proven [that] every word of my favourite love song can become a reality,” Heart confessed to Chiz. “And just like what I said before, I will love you. And I will always love you with all my heart.”
