Funko Pop caters to people with diverse interests—whether you like cartoons, superhero movies, or even real-life celebrities, there is at least one figure you can take home. Founded in 1998 by toy collector Mike Becker, the business started as a manufacturer of bobbleheads, coin banks, and hand puppets resembling pop culture figures, including Big Boy, Popeye, Batman, and more.
In 2005, Becker sold Funko Pop to Brian Mariotti, who moved to Lynnwood, Washington. In 2010, the company officially debuted its popular vinyl line at San Diego Comic-Con. Since then, it has formed official partnerships with some of the world's biggest franchises, such as Marvel and DC.
Funko Pop has also released interest-based toys. It has created Filipino Funko Pop, including Darna, Jollibee, Big Boy Cheng, and more in the last few years.

1. Bigboy Cheng
Celebrity vlogger and toy collector Bigboy Cheng announced that he will get his Filipino Funko Pop figure on June 12, 2024. The collectible was unveiled with Apo Whang-Od’s toy during the ToyCon 2024. “See you all at PH ToyCon! I will be there on the 15th to sign your goodies,” he said in an Instagram post.

One hundred-and-six-year-old Apo Whang-Od is the last and oldest mambabatok (hand-tapping tattoo artist) in the Philippines. The tattoo artist, who began her career at the tender age of 16, was given the Presidential Medal Of Merit in February 2024 for her influence on Filipino culture, arts, and heritage.
Whang-Od’s Filipino Funko Pop was unveiled during ToyCon last June 19 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. Reports revealed that Whang-Od and her tribe only allowed 107 pieces of her Funko to be made, making it a limited-edition piece.

Growing up, many girls look up to Filipina superheroine Darna. The character was introduced by artist Mars Ravelo during the Golden Age of Comic Books in May 1950. First seen on Pilipino Komiks #77, Darna's powers include super strength, speed, reflexes, heat vision, and more.
Her Funko Pop figure is just as impressive. Released in 2019, Darna is the first Filipino superhero to have a pop culture collectable.

Even when you travel to far-flung areas of the Philippines, your eyes will likely gaze upon the colourful logos of restaurants like Jollibee. The beloved food chain mascot, which was released to the public on June 12, 2019, wears a Barong Tagalog.
“This garment dates back from 1561 during the Spanish occupation of the Philippines and has long been a symbol of the country’s rich history. Having the Jollibee mascot wear it makes it one of the jolliest symbols of Filipino pride,” Funko said.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) partnered with Funko and Disney to bring Mickey Mouse, one of the world’s most sought-after characters. Released in May 2022, the Filipino-themed doll wears a barong Tagalog.
“We believe that having a global icon like Mickey Mouse will help promote the Philippines and its tourist destinations to the world. This collectable will not only be enjoyed by children, but also adults who want to reminisce about all the good times they had with their favourite Disney character,” former Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat said in a statement.
