While we may cherish the convenience of snapping a photo on our phones and sharing them instantly, there’s a certain charm about old-school instant cameras that lets us capture moments with a click of a button. Instant cameras may not always produce flawless images, but their softness adds to their unique appeal. Over the years, many instant cameras have popped up with brands constantly outdoing themselves with new camera innovations—the latest being Leica’s Sofort 2.
Meaning ‘immediately’ in German, this camera has been seven years in the making and turns a fully instant camera into a hybrid one. The latest device lets you permanently save digital images and choose the shots you want printed. The camera is also linked to the Leica Fotos app, which allows you to print your favourite images from your smartphone.

What’s more, the hybrid camera boasts various features and design updates, including the addition of multiple lenses and three new modes: selfie, landscape and macro. With an assortment of lenses to choose from, the versatile camera is perfect for every occasion.
Similar to the first generation, the Sofort 2 uses Instax Mini formal photo paper. Leica also hopes to launch its own photo papers in warm-white and golden frame editions in the future.

The modern camera offers a minimalistic and elegant design, with a user-friendly menu and button structure similar to other digital Leica cameras. It’s available in three colours: white, black and red. The latter is exclusively available for purchase through the official Leica online store. Its simple colours allow you to add your own personalised spin on the camera’s design, whether through the addition of wrist straps, carrying straps or camera bags.
