Janine Gutierrez shares how Samsung’s slimmest and most powerful foldable devices yet have changed the way she plays, works and lives

Fresh from bagging the title of best supporting actress at the 53rd Box Office Entertainment Awards for her work on Lavender Fields, Janine Gutierrez fondly reflects on her role. “Iris Buneavidez was the antagonist of the story, but I really enjoyed playing her,” Gutierrez shares. “I resonated with her. She was very focused on work, but at the same time, she enjoyed herself and expressed herself when it came to fashion, her hobbies and her interests." Through this role and countless others, she has found her authentic self. Growing up in an equally talented family inevitably postured her toward the limelight. Yet, she was determined to carve out a path and leave her own indelible mark.

“Becoming an actor has helped me be more authentic to my own emotions,” Gutierrez reflects. “If I'm sad, I'll just be sad. If I’m having a bad day, I'll just go through the motions and not try to sidetrack that. It's best to feel everything, whether it's happiness or sadness, because it makes it easier for me to also tap into those emotions when I use them for work.”

Playing the part of an antagonist like Iris was not an easy one—especially since it was her first time portraying such a character. It involved countless hours of research, learning from veterans and studying under mentors.

Much like the role she played on screen, the award-winning actor herself is a multi-hyphenate, necessitating a phone that not only complements her lifestyle and aesthetic but could also keep up with her busy schedule. “I need a phone that can really help me multitask because I’m an actor,” Gutierrez muses. “But I’m also a content creator and at the same time, I have a small business. Right now, I’m trying to produce films, so there are so many boxes that I need to be ticking off.”

As a longtime Samsung user, Gutierrez naturally gravitated towards their latest foldable devices, especially the Galaxy Z Fold7. It’s their slimmest, sleekest and most high-performing one yet. Unfolded, the thickness is just under 4 millimetres, with a crisp AMOLED 120 hertz screen that is 11% larger than the previous generation. It sports the same powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and boasts an enhanced selfie camera as well as a 200-megapixel front camera crucial for content creators like herself.

“The cameras are great,” Gutierrez enthuses. “It’s the main reason why I’ve used Samsung for years. Beyond the importance of photos for my work and my YouTube channel, I also love watching concerts—like Harry Styles or [Taylor Swift's] The Eras Tour—I still have those videos.” The photo and video quality that Samsung's lenses are capable of are what has kept her using the brand for years, and the Galaxy Z Fold7's camera—among the best in foldable devices—can capture in even sharper quality with exquisite detail. From sold-out concerts to day-to-day moments, Gutierrez can always preserve the things that matter most.

This has also encouraged her to share much more of her personal life online through photos, bolstered by the integrated AI tools at her disposal. “What I really love is the object eraser, which is something I always use,” she adds. “If there's something behind me that I don't want in my photo, it's a quick tap, and the photo erases it.” The built-in Gemini Live has also proved to be an equally helpful companion, helping her organise her busy schedule and her thoughts.

“I appreciate the multitasking features the most,” Gutierrez says. “The split view is so useful. For example, I have to post on my YouTube channel. I’ll have [it] in the first half of the screen, and then I’ll have my guidelines or captions on the other.” This flow makes her everyday updates that much smoother, clearer and clutter-free.

This host of features cultivate the “ultra” lifestyle that the new Galaxy Z series espouses, in being able to accommodate and pursue all of your collective interests. “It’s like having a personal assistant,” Gutierrez remarks. “It makes me more capable of accomplishing all my tasks.” In a world where agility and versatility matter more than ever, it’s important to stay on top of things. “Because everything is fast evolving. You need the tools to keep up; you need a phone that helps you be on top of your game—and that’s the Galaxy Z Fold7.”

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 launches on August 1, 2025 and is now available for pre-order until July 31, and customers can enjoy special offers such as free storage upgrade worth ₱8,000, up to 18% savings, plus 0% installment up to 36 months via UnionBank, BDO, BPI, Metrobank and HSBC.
