Denza brings its flagship D9 MPV to Malaysia with cutting-edge technology, first-class comfort, and a bold design

As the automotive world shifts into high gear for a greener future, electric vehicles (EVs) are no longer a niche curiosity but instead have become a statement of sophistication and sustainability. This phenomenon is clearly evident in Malaysia as more and more EVs enter the market.

The latest to enter the market is Denza, which traces its origin to a joint venture between China’s BYD and Mercedes-Benz in 2010. Now a wholly-owned subsidiary of BYD following restructuring, it fully leverages BYD’s advanced electric vehicle technology while retaining the luxury DNA inspired by its initial collaboration.

As its maiden entrance into the Malaysian automotive landscape, the Denza D9 MPV is introduced in two variants: the front wheel drive (FWD) Advanced model and the all-wheel-drive (AWD) Premium model. Designed to seamlessly balance business and personal use, both are powered by a 103.6 kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate battery, offering WLTP-rated ranges of 520 km and 480 km, respectively. Charging is quick and efficient, with support for up to 166 kW DC fast charging, allowing a 30 per cent to 80 per cent charge in just 30 minutes.

Behind the wheel, the D9 feels less like a traditional MPV and more like a private sanctuary. Its whisper-quiet cabin rivals the tranquillity of a five-star spa. Paired with buttery-smooth acceleration, the DiSus adaptive damping system (exclusive to the Premium variant) ensures every drive feels like floating on a cloud, whether navigating urban traffic or coastal bends. According to Denza, the Premium variant takes over two and a half seconds out of the century sprint, which it completes in 6.9 seconds.

In terms of aesthetics and looks, the Denza D9 makes a bold statement with its sculpted silhouette and arresting details. The front fascia, adorned with vertical chrome accents and LED projector headlights, exudes confidence, while the sail-like silver D-pillars and full-width taillight bar create a striking rear profile. The car is also available in three elegant hues: Arctic White, Whale Sea Blue, or Cosmos Black.

The Premium variant elevates the experience further with beige Nappa leather upholstery, real wood trim, and suede headlining.
