This October, the Tatler Ball 2024 will present etherealism in black tie fashion—a night where trailblazers and tastemakers toast to shaping an impactful, idyllic world
In Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s poem, Kubla Khan, Xanadu is depicted as an otherworldly paradise—centred around a palace made for an emperor, built on rich, fertile soil where power, wellness, artistry, and magnificence flourish.
Beyond a portrayal of paradise where idyllism and creativity intertwine, Xanadu is a metaphor for boundless potential and growth. It is this state of mind, charged by the aligned purpose of bringing our versions—and visions—of an extraordinary environment to life, that has inspired the Tatler Ball 2024’s theme: Xanadu.
At Tatler Singapore, and collectively as Tatler Asia, we are deeply committed to not only recognise but amplify institutions and initiatives that are positively impacting communities, and individuals who lead with purpose to drive society forward. By constantly evolving our platforms for these stories to be told, and acting as a springboard for connection, creativity and conversation, we strive to create what can otherwise be described as a content-driven paradise of inspiration, and influence.
The Tatler Ball is, ultimately, our annual celebration to commemorate it all.
In case you missed it: How much do you know about the Tatler Ball?

The “save the dates” are being sent out as we speak, to dear members of our community spanning the realms of business, innovation, culture and humanity. These areas coincide with the exact Tatler Impact awards that will be presented to four stellar individuals from our Asia’s Most Influential list at this year’s ball. This flagship fete, after all, is both a celebration of brilliance in every sense of the word, and a way to express our gratitude to the stalwarts who have shaped, and are shaping, society.
Galvanised by the spirit of a greater world in mind, the Tatler Ball 2024 will present etherealism in black tie fashion. Where trailblazers and tastemakers alike will break bread and make merry in a ballroom transformed into a lush, sensory dome—with some wellness activations to soothe the skin and psyche.

Utopic and divine style inspirations are essential to the evening’s allure—as you will see in an accompanying article by our fashion and branded content editor, Adriel Chiun. Think ethereal, cascading fabrics of organza and silk chiffon, calling to mind Sandro Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus; floral surrealism in the form of archival Alexander McQueen; scintillating gowns that shine like the constellations; or the eternal summers that inspire Zuhair Murad’s spring 2024 collection, where sweeping silhouettes appear painted in the euphoric hues of glowing horizons, or adorned with blooming crystal flower appliqués.
While the poem’s—and the word’s—origins trace back to Kublai Khan, the fifth emperor of the Mongol dynasty, it is more the spirit of Xanadu that we are channelling. In essence, Xanadu serves as a leading light and multifaceted symbol of paradise, for a night in October where celestial beauty, imaginative potential, and modern-day monarchs and mavericks of industry converge to toast to building an impactful, idyllic world.
See you at the Tatler Ball.
