Bench global ambassador and K-pop superstar group Enhypen shares their personal interests, favourite Filipino snack, and more on their visit to Manila
Korean music group Enhypen was in Manila to spend time with Engenes for a fan meet, A Sweet Experience, hosted by fashion and lifestyle retail giant Bench.
The seven members of the group—Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-ki—now join the roster of the clothing brand’s global “Benchsetters”, alongside other big Korean stars such as Ji Chang-wook, Kim Soo-hyun, and Kim Seon-ho, to name a few.
“After meeting them during our shoots and interactions, they remain humble despite their young age and great success. I’ll always remember a quote from one of their interviews that is a good reminder to us all: ‘We should not forget where we first began. We should always be grateful and work hard.’ These are our Bench boys: great artists and good role models,” says Bench founder and Tatler Asia’s Most Influential honouree, Ben Chan, in an exclusive interview with Tatler.

Just a day before their grand fan event, Enhypen met with the press and shared more about themselves. Here’s everything we learnt about the global superstars:
1. They know some Tagalog words and phrases from their past visits to Manila

Enhypen has been to the country a couple of times, which is why it’s no surprise that they would know some Tagalog words and phrases by heart by now. The members greeted the press with a “Kumusta” (Hello) as they entered the room. Later on that afternoon, Sunoo even shared that he knows “Salamat po” (Thank you) and “Pogi” (Handsome) as well.
As the conference ended, all seven members graced the press with their adorable version of “Mahal kita” (I love you).
2. Jay says Sunghoon is the most fashionable among the members

Although we know that all members are fashionable in their own ways, Jay mentioned that Sunghoon might be the group’s most stylish. “I think Sunghoon is the best because he’s well aware of trends,” says Jay.
Members Ni-ki and Jay also shared that they are currently into streetwear and loose, oversized fits, respectively.
3. Sunghoon wants to visit Cebu and Boracay

Cebu and Boracay are top destinations for locals and tourists alike, making them the perfect choices for Sunghoon, who wants to jet ski. They haven’t visited Cebu and Boracay just yet, but we hope the entire group will soon get to go!

4. Heeseung enjoys dried mangoes the most when in Manila

Member Heeseung mentioned how he has always loved snacking on dried mangoes every time he is in the Philippines. In fact, he had some just a day before the press event.
5. Enhypen spends their free time watching fans react to their songs and performances

Even during their free time, the members like to interact with their fans, Engenes. Ni-ki said that the group enjoys watching reaction videos posted by their fans and communicating with them on Weverse and X.
6. Jungwon’s favourite Enhypen song is Bite Me

Each member has their own favourite song, but when asked, Jungwon shared that his is Bite Me from their album, Dark Blood. It’s a song that tells a dark fantasy-type love story where the male lead can only claim the love of another through blood.
Other songs from their album Dark Blood include Fate, Bills, and Sacrifice (Eat Me Up).
7. Enhypen’s musical inspiration is the Engenes

The members never forget to show love and appreciation for their fans. They said their musical inspiration is their fans because they believe that without their Engenes, there would be no Enhypen.
If you’re a Filipino Engene who has not seen Enhypen yet, there’s not much to worry about. Enhypen loves coming back here, so you will certainly get your chance.
“Whenever we come here, the energy is incredible. When we perform in front of them, they always give out the best energy. We have so many good memories here in the Philippines; that’s why we always come back,” says Jake.
