At the age of fifteen, V accompanied a friend to an audition at Big Hit Entertainment. At the time, he had no plans of auditioning, but an executive encouraged him to audition. He called his parents, who encouraged him to take a chance since he was there already. He ended up passing the audition, not knowing he’d one day become a global superstar through BTS.

V is known for his deep interest in art and photography. One of his favourite photographers is the Sydney-based minimalist photographer, Ante Badzim. He also enjoys going to art galleries, like the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the Art Institute of Chicago.

Jazz is one of his favourite genres to listen to, especially artists like Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong, Ruben Studdard and Eric Benet. Throughout his life, V has had a wide range of pets, including a white dog named Soonshim who stays with his parents. His most famous pet is Yeontan, a black teacup Pomeranian who even became the cover of V’s first solo album, Layover. Upon Yeontan’s recent passing, ARMYs shared in Taehyung’s mourning over his beloved pet.
