1. Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik

On October 28, it was announced that celebrity couple Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik had parted ways after an alleged altercation between Malik and Gigi’s mother, Yolanda.

The news, which was first reported by TMZ, said that Yolanda was considering filing a police report against Malik for striking her. Malik released a statement in response to deny these allegations.

In the statement, which was shared on Malik’s Twitter, he wrote that he wanted to create “a place where private family matters aren’t thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart.” He added that the incident “was and still should be a private matter.”

The couple, who first sparked romance rumours in 2015, share a 13-month-old daughter together, baby Khai, who they continue to co-parent.

2. Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West

In February this year, Kim Kardashian officially filed for divorce from Kanye West after a six-year marriage.

She later opened up about her reasons for the decision in the two-part series finale of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. In part one, Kardashian cries to her sisters and says: “He deserves someone that can go support his every move and go follow him all over the place and move to Wyoming. I can’t do that...I want to be happy.”

In part two, Kardashian went deeper and explained to Kris Jenner: “I just feel like I’ve worked so hard in life to achieve everything that I’ve wanted to, and I’ve lived up to my expectations and achieved 10 times more than I ever thought was humanly possible, but I don’t have a life to share that with.”

“Like, I do—obviously my kids and everything—but am I just going to sit here and think, ‘OK, my kids fulfil me and I’m good?’” she continued.

The couple have four children together: North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.

In early November, Kardashian sparked romantic rumours with Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson after the pair were spotted together at Knott’s Scary Farm in Southern California.

The couple supposedly went Instagram-official when a picture of Davidson, Kardashian West, and Jenner in matching black and brown plaid pyjamas was posted on the social media platform.

4. Kate Bosworth and Michael Polish

In August this year, American actress Kate Bosworth announced her split from her husband of seven years, filmmaker Michael Polish.

The couple announced their divorce on Instagram with Bosworth writing: “The beginning is often the best part of love. Fireworks, magnets, rebellion—the attraction. The onset signals a wide-open expanse of possibility,”

“Inherently we fear an ending. To lose what you have because you got what you wanted. To be attached to the expectation of the outcome. The great unknown. What if we chose not to fear but instead, to love. If that most delicate and vulnerable last flicker to the flame became another type of furnace entirely,” she continued.

5. Bill and Melinda Gates

In May this year, Bill and Melinda Gates announced that they were headed for a divorce after being married for 27 years.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Melinda had begun meeting with attorneys from several firms from as early as October 2019. Her meetings partly stemmed from her unease about Bill’s ties to Epstein which began approximately around 2013.

It was reported that Bill Gates had met up with Epstein a number of times and had even stayed late at his townhouse in New York. The meeting was said to be about philanthropy.

Epstein died in jail in August 2019 while awaiting trial on charges that he had trafficked underage girls for sex.

The couple is among the richest pairs in the world and the divorce made Melinda an overnight billionaire
