Cover South Korean idol Suga's Road to D-Day documentary is available to stream from today

The BTS rapper’s latest solo documentary follows the South Korean idol’s journey to finding inspiration for his upcoming album, D-Day

The long-awaited release of BTS star Suga’s latest documentary, Suga: Road to D-Day, is finally over.

Fans of Min Yoongi, better known as Suga, will get to watch his first solo documentary that follows the idol as he travels across various cities in search of inspiration for his debut album, D-Day, while reflecting on his past. Throughout the 80-minute-long documentary, we see another side of the K-pop star as he reminisces on his past and shares more about what he anticipates for his future. 

The solo documentary will be released together with his debut album. That said, this isn’t the rapper’s first solo studio project. Prior to D-Day, the Dynamite rapper released two sets, Agust D and D-2, under his moniker, Agust D. 

Below, we share some of the best moments to look out for while watching the BTS member’s new documentary.

1. He shares his thoughts about BTS taking a break

In the first episode, Suga explains that while the official break recently happened, there were discussions about it long before. “The articles about us breaking up… [had a lot of negative comments] made it hard for me to accept what people were thinking about us,” he shares.

2. He reunites with his friends

The Permission to Dance rapper shared that he was not able to do “the things I wanted to do” during his last visit to Las Vegas. This time, while filming the documentary in Vegas, he was able to reunite with his friends. “I plan to see my friends while I’m here. I’m gonna see Halsey, Chris and Steve Aoki,” he shares. The episode saw him reunite with Aoki as he brings Suga on a tour of his house.

3. He travels by himself for the first time

The rapper explains he only realised that “trips are fun”, after taking his first solo trip away. He reflects sharing: “Now I need to think about how to keep having this fun in my life.”

4. He shares his thoughts on his latest song

Titled Amygdala, his newest track is named after a certain part of the brain which stores unpleasant memories. “I have massive mood swings whenever I’m working on this song. To work on it, I have to bring up some of my unpleasant memories,” he tells his band member, Jimin. The rapper continues by explaining that while he has to reminisce on his bad experiences, it is a “very important process” to do so as it will help him learn to control them better.

5. He meets one of his biggest inspirations

The documentary sees Suga meeting the late Ryuichi Sakamoto in Japan. The Butter rapper reminisces on the first time he was met with Sakamoto’s work. “I was just blown away by [his music]… his music inspired me so much and it motivated me as well,” he shares.
