Think of October and what pops to mind immediately are Oktoberfest and Halloween. But there’s so much more to the month—not only is it Breast Cancer Awareness Month (or Pink Month), but it’s also World Mental Health Month.
In Hong Kong, there are plenty of events taking place, where you can support some of these causes—plus lots of fun happenings, too, if you just want to let your hair down and have a good time. So whether you want to run for a cause or just chug beer (and really, why not do both?), we’ve got you covered with our roundup of what to do and see in Hong Kong in October.

1. BigBang’s Taeyang: The Light Year Tour in Hong Kong
When: October 5, 2024
Where: AsiaWorld-Expo, 1 Airport Expo Blvd, Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong
What: Get ready, Hong Kong—Big Bang member Taeyang will hold a concert in Hong Kong this October as part of his solo tour “The Light Year”. This follows his solo return with his EP Down To Earth, released in April 2023.
2. 2024 International Space-out Competition

What: The International Space-Out Competition is part of Korea Square 2024, which is organised by the Korean Cultural Center. Returning for its tenthth iteration and taking place in Hong Kong for a second time, this unique event celebrates daydreaming and getting lost in thoughts. 700 participants—or daydreamers—will compete for the title of this year's King of Spacing Out.
3. Oktoberfest at BaseHall
When: October 5, 2024
Where: Basehall, LG/F, Jardine House, Central, Hong Kong
What: Basehall 01 is hosting its fourth annual Oktoberfest party on October 5. The event will see the Central food hall transformed into a Bavarian beer tent for the night. Attendees can enjoy live music from a DJ and an oompah band, indulge in Oktoberfest dishes and savour Young Master’s Festbier, an elegant, malty lager.
4. WBSC Baseball5 World Cup
When: October 7-12
Where: Central Harbourfront Event Space, 9 Lung Wo Road, Central, Hong Kong
What: The WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2024 is coming to Hong Kong this October for an exciting week-long event. Baseball5, a modern twist on the classic game, has gained global popularity for its energetic approach to athletics. Twelve top-tier teams from five continents will compete for the championship title, showcasing Hong Kong as a premier sports event destination in Asia.
5. Wednesday Campanella in Hong Kong
When: October 8, 2024
Where: Tung Po Kitty Woo Stadium, King Fuk Street, San Po Kong, Hong Kong
What: Following their impressive performance at Clockenflap Festival last year, Japanese act Wednesday Campanella will be performing at the Tung Po Kitty Woo Stadium. Fans can anticipate an electrifying headline show.
6. Midori music festival
When: October 11-13
Where: Secret outdoor location
What: Y2K and Omni Agency are bringing back the Midori music festival, promising a bigger and better experience with an A-list selection of Hong Kong house, techno and bass music DJs. Set in a hidden valley in rural Hong Kong, the festival will feature not only music but also top local food brands, markets, and workshops like music production and foraging. The campsite offers amenities like showers and toilets, with a beach and waterfall nearby.
7. Sunny Lukas at Soho House
When: October 12, 2024
Where: Soho House, 33 Des Voeux Road West, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong
What: Hong Kong’s singer, songwriter and producer Sunny Lucas will be performing at Soho House on October 12, as part of Soho Rising, the annual music event hosted by Soho House Hong Kong. The event will coincide with Sunny's exclusive single-release party for Rolemodel in collaboration with 88rising. The futuristic Y2K-themed dress code will transport guests to the early 2000s, complementing Sunny's performances of classic R&B tracks and unreleased singles.
8. Oktoberfest at Central Market
When: October 17-November 2, 2024
Where: Central Market, 93 Queen’s Road, Central, Hong Kong
What: Chef’s Market is hosting an Oktoberfest celebration from October 17 to November 2 at Central Market. Enjoy live music by folk band Die Notenhobler and savour authentic German beverages including Franziskaner, Löwenbräu and Jägermeister.
9. Kiri T ’s ‘Ridiculously’ concert
When: October 19, 2024
Where: Free Space Big Box, West Kowloon Cultural District, 18 Museum Road, West Kowloon, Hong Kong
What: For her first solo concert, Kiri T will showcase her music production experiences and journey in a uniquely authentic, immersing the audience in the ambiguous space where she once felt lost. Prepare yourself to sing her latest hits such as Bilingual Problems (2024) as well as some of her first songs, like Strawberry Ice cream (2022).
10. Pici Pasta Run 2024
When: October 20, 2024
Where: Harbourfront Promenade, Hong Kong
What: Pici is returning with the fourth edition of their annual Pasta Run on October 20. This year, participants can choose between a 5km or a 10km course, which will start from two locations across town at different times. Both courses will conclude at Pici’s branch at Taikoo Place in Quarry Bay, where a finish line full of free pasta will be waiting for you.
11. Heath’s garage sale 3.0
When: October 26-27
Where: The Garage at Heath, B/F, 36-44 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
What: After two successful editions, Heath’s garage sale is returning for a third time this month. From pre-loved and vintage fashion to accessories, toys, souvenirs, electronics, vinyl, and more, swing by the basement of Chungking Mansions, where interesting sellers will showcase their unique wares.
