From Korean dramas to comedies and romance movies, here are the best new shows arriving on Netflix this month

Netflix slowed down with its K-drama releases in March but it’s back to spoiling viewers with a number of Korean content in April including Tomorrow, Our Blues and Yaksha: Ruthless Operations.

For those who have been waiting for Russian Doll season two for a long time, the wait is almost over as the dark comedy finally returns this month. On the other side, Japan is offering a comedy-drama about a pregnant man in He’s Expecting, while romance lovers can look forward to Along for the Ride, a movie adaptation of the book of the same name by Sarah Dessen.

1. The Bubble

The Bubble is a comedy about a group of celebrities stuck inside a hotel room during the pandemic. They are attempting to complete a sequel to an action franchise about flying dinosaurs. Will they succeed?

Release: April 1

2. Tomorrow

The first K-drama offering from Netflix this month is Tomorrow. It stars Rowoon as Choi Joon-wong, who is unemployed despite his prestigious background.

One day, he accidentally meets two grim reapers who save people from committing suicide instead of guiding the dead to the underworld. Choi is recruited to work for them.

3. Ronny Chieng: Speakeasy

This stand-up comedy special sees Ronny Chieng perform live in New York City. With a unique blend of intelligence, rage and physicality, Ronny shares his take on the pandemic, race relations, cancel culture and stories from his experiences as a comedian.

4. Our Blues

Our Blues boasts a star-studded cast that includes Lee Byung-hun, Shin Min-a, Cha Seung-won, Lee Jung-eun, Kim Woo-bin, Han Ji-min and more.

The K-drama follows a group of people on Jeju Island. It will depict the sweet and bitter side of their own individual stories especially the ups and downs of love.

5. Yaksha: Ruthless Operations

Yaksha: Ruthless Operations tells the story of Kang-In (Sol Kyung-gu), the leader of an overseas black ops team in Shenyang.

One day, the National Intelligence Service (NIS) discovers that the report findings they are receiving from the team are all fake. Troubled, they sent Han Ji-hoon (Park Hae-soo), a special inspector to investigate.

6. My Liberation Notes

My Liberation Notes revolves around three siblings and an outsider who all long to be liberated. Yeom Chang-hee (Lee Min-ki) is the middle child and wants to escape his family’s home for a better life.

Yeom Mi-jung (Kim Ji-won), the youngest of the siblings, wants to be liberated from her boring and lonely life. The eldest child Yeom Ki-jung (Lee El) wants to find love.

The stranger Mr Goo (Son Suk-ku) enters the life of the three siblings after suddenly arriving at their village.

7. Mai

This Netflix series revolves around a grieving mother who discovers the criminals behind her daughter’s traffic death. In order to get to the truth of what really happened, she transforms herself from meek to merciless.

8. Russian Doll: Season 2

Russian Doll is finally back for its second season. Set four years after Nadia (Natasha Lyonne) and Alan (Charlie Barnett) escape mortality’s time loop together, the new season will continue to explore existential thematics through a humorous and sci-fi lens.

Nadia and Alan will discover a fate even worse than endless death as they deliver deeper into their pasts through an expected time portal.

9. He’s Expecting

He’s Expecting is based on the [Japanese comics] manga Hiyama Kentarou no Ninshin by Eri Sakai. The comedy-drama follows ad executive Kentaro Hiyama (Takumi Saitoh) who’s gotten pregnant. He’s forced to confront social inequalities he’s never considered before as a pregnant man.

10. Along for the Ride

Based on the best-selling book of the same name by Sarah Dessen, Along for the Ride follows Auden (Emma Pasarow) the summer before college. She meets the mysterious Eli (Belmont Cameli) and together, they go on highly quests where he helps her experience the carefree life she’s missing.
