The rumours were true and now, South Korea’s latest K-pop girl group, Meovv, is set to debut sometime in the third quarter of 2024

The initial debut trailers for The Black Label’s new K-pop girl group Meovv (pronounced “meow”, like the cat) have been released and it’s just starting to get exciting. Believed to be a five-member group, Meovv consists of members Ella Gross, Lee Gawon, Kim Sooin, Tanaka Anna, and Narin.

The Black Label, helmed by Teddy Park and Kush, is an associate company of South Korean entertainment giant YG Entertainment and the brains behind some of Blackpink’s and 2NE1's chart-topping music. The agency was rumoured to be preparing to debut a new group this year, which was cemented when photos of their trainees found their way onto social media.

In February 2024, The Black Label confirmed their plans and in April 2024, filed a copyright trademark for Meovv. Meet the members of the highly anticipated group.

“I remember nothing but the destination I was heading to. Why is why I just got here.”

Half-German, half-Korean child model and actress Ella McKenzie Gross is no stranger to the South Korean entertainment scene as she has been hailed “baby Jennie” due to her uncanny likeness to Blackpink’s Jennie Kim. Soon to be 16 years old, the California-born officially signed under The Black Label in 2018 and is often pictured with Blackpink members.

Gawon

“If I were to choose between the two, I already know my answer.”

US-born Chloe Lee Gawon is the second Meovv member to be revealed. A former YG Entertainment trainee, she’s believed to have trained with the members of Babymonster when she was with the company. Before signing with The Black Label, the 19-year-old Korean-American was featured in Adidas campaigns as a child model.

The third to be introduced as a member of Meovv, 19-year-old Korean-born Kim Sooin was revealed through a debut trailer which allowed her to showcase her gun fighting skills in the snow before breaking into slick dance moves. She’s believed to be a former SOPA (School of Performing Arts Seoul) student who majored in voice and singing.

The fourth Meovv member has been revealed and already, she’s getting plenty of attention for her stunning visuals in her debut trailer. Hailing from Japan, the 19-year-old Tanaka Anna was known as a social media influencer and a model. Before joining The Black Label, she was an exclusive model for Seventeen Japan.

“By chance, I got a cool item from a vending machine then I found myself in the backyard.”

The final Meovv member has finally been revealed ahead of their rumoured September debut and it’s a considerably fresh-faced 17-year-old soon-to-be idol named Narin. The Korean-born is said to have trained with The Black Label for three years. While not much is known about her, she gave a glimpse of her talent in the video, exuding serious main rapper vibes which have gotten fans excited about what she’ll be bringing to the table.

The Black Label will also be hosting a pre-listening pop-up ahead of Meovv’s debut at The Hyundai Seoul, B2F, Heights Exchange, from August 29 to September 4, 2024. The event will feature a booth where visitors can listen to their unreleased tracks in advance.
