Creamfields, one of the most highly anticipated music festivals in Hong Kong returns with a star-studded line-up
Featuring renowned DJs Martin Garrix, Armin van buuren, Illenium, Zhu and more, the two-day event is set to take place at Central Harbourfront on April 13 and 14. For those who have been the biggest fans of the performers, here is the perfect chance to see them in person.
When it comes to music festivals, there’s usually the one name that pops up in our minds, which is Martin Garrix. Only 27 years old, the young musician has already worked with big stars such as Dua Lipa, David Guetta, Khalid, Macklemore and more. Not to mention, he’s also the headliner of several biggest music festivals in the world, Coachella, Tomorrowland, Ultra, to name just a few.
To get us into the Creamfields spirit, Tatler caught up with this year’s headliner aka DJ and music producer Martin Garrix, on how he gets ready for performances, his latest IDEM EP, and his summer plans.

It's been awhile since you last visited Hong Kong, how does it feel to come back and perform?
I’m super excited to return to Hong Kong and play at Creamfields here. The stage and production look insane, so I can’t wait for the show.
What can we all expect from your performance at Creamfields 2024?
We’re currently working on new visuals and I’m working on a lot of new music that I need to test live, of course.
What do you usually do 24 hours before your performances? How do you relax yourself?
My schedule is usually pretty tight, so 24 hours before the show, it’s likely that I will be travelling. Whenever I do have time, I like to go out and explore the country I’m visiting. Right before my set I’m usually preparing and I like to relax a bit in my dressing room.
You’ve just dropped your IDEM EP, tell us about the inspiration behind it.
All the tracks on IDEM have been ones I’ve been playing live a lot over the past year and fans were waiting for them. The EP has the same name as the live show I’m touring with at the moment, which we premiered during ADE [Amsterdam Dance Event] last year. It represents the period leading up to the shows where I premiered and played the songs at various shows. For the songs, I have collaborated with good friends of mine like Third Party, Mesto, DubVision, and Seth Hills. They are all high-energy tracks that have been staples in my sets the past year and I’m super-happy I can finally share the finished songs with everyone.
What are you trying to convey through your music?
I really hope to make people happy with my music. To provide people with an escape from everyday life and for them to be able to forget everything and just be in the moment.
Where else will you be performing this summer?
In a lot of different places! I have my residencies this summer at Omnia Las Vegas, Wet Republic Las Vegas and Ushuaia Ibiza, so I will definitely be spending a lot of time there. I’m also playing at a lot of festivals all over Europe this summer, so you can find me everywhere.
Any upcoming projects that you are planning to unveil later this year?
Despite releasing my EP last week I’m working on a lot of other new music that we’re planning to release soon.
