Lala Curio founder Laura Cheung transformed the boutique hotel’s private dining room into an avian wonderland for her milestone birthday
Laura Cheung knows how to throw a party that's as exquisitely curated as her renowned interior designs. The Lala Curio founder celebrated her 40th birthday on June 13 in spectacular fashion at Paris's intimate Hotel Mazarin, transforming the venue's Boubalé private dining room into a feast for the senses that embodied her signature aesthetic.
The "dress like a bird" theme saw guests including Ivan Pun and Melissa Fok donning feathered finery in the hotel's enchanting setting, which Cheung described as "so Lala Curio— a total dream." The evening's décor was a masterclass in her celebrated style, featuring hand-painted, hand-embroidered wallpaper from her coveted farm to table collection, alongside hand-embroidered linens and coasters that added layers of artisanal luxury to each table setting.
Every detail bore Cheung's touch, from the hand-written notes placed at each guest's setting to the free-hand-painted French porcelain plates by Marie Dâage. The Mediterranean cuisine provided the perfect backdrop for what was undoubtedly the evening's pièce de résistance: 40 exquisite flower cakes crafted by renowned pastry chef Cedric Grolet, organised by Cheung's sister Anne.
The celebrations continued into the night at the hotel, where guests enjoyed karaoke. For those who know Cheung's work, the party was quintessentially her: beautifully crafted, deeply personal and utterly unforgettable.
