The Oscar winners reunite on the big screen as a bitterly divorced couple in a new romantic comedy

Julia Roberts is finally returning to the genre that shot her to superstardom. The last time Roberts starred in a rom-com was America's Sweethearts in 2001, but her last great rom-com was My Best Friend's Wedding and that was in 1997—25 years ago! The wait is almost over as the trailer for Ticket to Paradise was released last night, a new movie to be released in October this year that also stars her good pal and frequent movie collaborator, George Clooney. The last time Clooney made a rom-com was One Fine Day in 1996, with Michelle Pfeiffer.

Written and directed by Ol Parker who also wrote The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and directed Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Roberts and Clooney play exes who travel to Bali to stop their daughter from making the same mistake they once made: marrying a man she just met.

Roberts was the queen of rom-com throughout the '90s, after gaining international fame in the classic Pretty Woman in 1990. She then went on to make prestige projects, winning a Best Actress Oscar for Eric Brokovich. In an interview with The New York Times, she said that it was not a deliberate decision on her part to stay away from the genre. "People sometimes misconstrue the amount of time that’s gone by that I haven’t done a romantic comedy as my not wanting to do one. If I had read something that I thought was that Notting Hill level of writing or My Best Friend’s Wedding level of madcap fun, I would do it."

Clooney, also an Oscar winner for Syriana and Argo, has worked with Roberts on Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Twelve and Money Monster
