Look forward to new visitor experiences and anniversary specials, including a brand-new behind-the-scenes tour that will be unveiled in the second half of 2024 at Jewel Changi Airport
It has been five years since Singapore introduced to the world what is now known as a national icon: Jewel Changi Airport. The lifestyle destination enters its fifth year in 2024 with much to celebrate as it welcomes more visitors in a post-Covid era.
In tandem with the growth in passenger traffic at Changi Airport, Jewel Changi Airport has witnessed a corresponding uptick in footfall traffic, registering a 26 per cent increase in the financial year 2023-2024 as compared to the previous year. Of the total footfall registered, 30 per cent were overseas travellers, with the top five nationalities being tourists from China, Malaysia, Taiwan, United States of America and Indonesia.
Tourists from around the world are understandably attracted to Jewel thanks to its unique attractions, including the sprawling 14,000 sqm Canopy Park which also saw
increasing patronage.
To mark its fifth anniversary, the lifestyle destination will present a year-long calendar of special events, retail offerings and new experiences under the celebratory theme of ‘What A Feelin’.
Jewel Changi Airport also organised a charity dinner on April 17 to commemorate its anniversary at the Cloud9 Piazza. Jewel Changi Airport partnered Metta Welfare Association (Metta) to raise funds for the event. Proceeds from the charity event and auction will go towards the development of the new Maitri School/Building project that will be ready by 2028. Maitri School will be the second Special Education School set up by Metta to provide education for students with moderate to severe Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Among the 12 auction items that were generously sponsored by Jewel’s tenants were a limited-edition Louis Erard x seconde/seconde x Watches of Switzerland - Long
Awaited Email timepiece, a collectable Bearbrick Flor and more. Metta Welfare Association also offered a range of art pieces. The night’s performers included students from Metta who showed off their circus tricks and local singer Joanna Dong who took to the stage to sing a few tunes for the audience. At the end of the night, it was announced that a total of SG$254,116 was raised.
After the dinner, selected items were also available for bidding by members of the public.
