現在日本媒體再度報導，小室圭仍在為了「律師職位」奮鬥中，並且前陣子才剛考完試！不過已經落榜 2 次的小室圭這次上榜機會依舊很小，讓他與真子公主之間出現了很大的問題。根據日媒《女性自身》報導，雖然紐約州律師資格的榜單要 10 月底才會放榜，但「真子公主對考試成績感到非常沮喪。」並表示，「由於小室圭都在忙著準備考試，家裡的支出全靠著真子公主的積蓄在支撐。」
附註：過去真子尚未脫離皇室前，她成年前每年可領到 305 萬圓（約新台幣 76 萬元），成年後每年則可以領為 915 萬圓（約新台幣 228 萬元）的皇族費，而且不需要課稅。此外她也曾在博物館工作，估計私人財產破億元。
