Despite the numerous projects he’s been in, Tatler Asia’s Most Influential 2022 honouree Iñigo Pascual’s journey in showbiz is still growing steadfastly
As the son of Piolo Pascual, one of the Philippines’ biggest celebrities, you would think that Iñigo Pascual would have difficulty getting out of his father’s shadow. But he did, with his very own box office hits like Boyette: Not a Girl Yet, numerous television appearances, and hit singles like Dahil Sa’yo.

The year 2020 marked the start of the younger Pascual’s first foray on the global stage when he made a guest appearance on Filipino-American comedian Jo Koy’s Netflix special In His Elements. The following year, the actor also joined the cast of FOX TV’s Monarch. And he has so much more to bring to the table.
Here, Pascual speaks intimately with Tatler on the highs and lows of his showbiz journey and his plans for the future.

What projects in the last two years are you most proud of? Why?
My second album, Options, that is under Tarsier Records. I am proud of this album because it consisted of a lot of original songs written by me and some co-written by me. I was more hands-on in the process of making this album—from the album cover to the styling, and the look of every music video. I had more creative space to express myself.
Also, Monarch, which premiered in September 2022. It is another project I am very proud of as it is my American TV debut. This project means a lot to me because I was able to push myself way beyond my comfort zone. It was my first audition for an American project, and I did not know what to expect. I am grateful my team supported me throughout the journey.
What challenges do you see now in your respective industry? How do you intend to help address these challenges?
Honestly, right now is a great time for creativity and exploration in this field. With the openness of other countries to different cultures, art, and music, now is the time to express yourself.
If I could say one thing, it’s that mainstream Filipino TV, cinema, and music should break their boundaries and show the world what we have. Break the mould.

What can you say to those who want to follow in your footsteps?
Be brave. Do not allow anyone else’s negative outlook on life to affect you and your dreams. Also, have patience. The best opportunities don’t always come right away, so play your cards wisely.
Surprise yourself. Dare to dream—dare to turn your dreams into reality, with trust, dedication, perseverance, and faith. Enjoy the ride and don’t be too hard on yourself.
Who do you look up to for guidance, inspiration or mentorship?
I am blessed to have so many people in my life who guide me and give me the best advice when it comes to everything I do. My parents as well, have always been there for me. They push me to go for my dreams and support me. If not for my family, I probably would not have the knowledge, confidence in myself, and drive, if I didn’t have them.
I am also grateful for my team, the people who see the best in me even when I feel my worst, the ones who believe in me even in times I don’t.

What are your plans for the coming years and what keeps you going?
I want to keep pursuing my passion which is music. I am still currently sending self-tapes for other projects here in the US. I am planning on venturing out as well on fashion and maybe putting out my own line or a collaboration.
Let’s also get Tagalog on the Grammys.
