Here’s what the royal was up to while in town this week
It’s not every day a royal graces our shores—the past weekend saw Prince William arriving in Singapore for a four-day work trip. Accompanied by senior minister of state for foreign affairs and national development Sim Ann, the Prince of Wales received a warm welcome from crowds at Changi Airport.
The British Royal is in Singapore for the annual Earthshot Prize award ceremony. Founded by the Prince himself, the worldwide environmental challenge supports innovators with solutions to some of the earth’s most pressing climate issues. It’s the first time the ceremony will be held in Asia, and the Royal will be announcing the recipients of the £1m award.
Ahead of the ceremony, the Prince made his time on the island worthwhile by visiting local attractions such as the HSBC Rain Vortex at Jewel Changi Airport. He also tried his hand at dragon boating, where he was seen paddling with athletes from the British Dragons Club along the Kallang River. According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Prince will also be attending the United for Wildlife Global Summit during his visit. He will also make a courtesy call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and meet Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana.
