G-Dragon, frontman of the iconic boy band BIGBANG, has officially set a landmark record, becoming the first Asian artist to grace the stage of the Sphere—the world’s largest spherical theatre, located in Las Vegas.
After a prolonged hiatus, G-Dragon has returned to the spotlight with a string of triumphs in the early months of 2025, reinforcing his unshakable position in the Korean music scene. In late February, he released his third studio album, Übermensch, which was swiftly embraced by fans. Beyond its commercial success with strong sales and high digital chart rankings, Übermensch also garnered widespread praise from international music critics.
Shortly after, in late March, he launched his global Übermensch tour with an opening concert in Goyang, South Korea. Renowned for his distinctive fashion and captivating stage presence, G-Dragon quickly ignited conversation across social media platforms.

Not only did G-Dragon appear in the On Spirit, One Team campaign film, he also served as its creative director. The film tastefully interweaves the symbolic white chrysanthemum, a personal motif of G-Dragon’s, with Hana Financial Group’s distinctive green, creating an experience both striking and sincere.
The 71-second video will be screened 42 times daily at the Sphere from 28 April to 4 May 2025. Displayed on the theatre’s colossal 112-metre-high and 157-metre-wide screen, illuminated by 1.2 million LED lights, On Spirit, One Team delivers an extraordinary visual encounter for audiences.
G-Dragon’s appearance not only reinforces his singular charisma, but also plays a part in elevating K-pop’s global stature. Looking ahead, G-Dragon is set to continue his Übermensch world tour, with a performance at Tokyo Dome, Japan, on 10 May 2025.
Sphere theatre: The new frontier in live performance
Since its grand unveiling in late September 2023, the Sphere theatre has swiftly established itself as a Las Vegas landmark. Towering over 100 metres high and illuminated by millions of LED lights, the $2 billion structure is impossible to overlook. Its striking presence has not gone unnoticed by the global entertainment industry, with artists quickly recognising the Sphere’s potential as a visionary platform for immersive experiences.
Just two months after its debut, Irish rock legends U2 made history as the first band to hold a 40-night residency at the Sphere. In a bold move that broke with convention, the band’s concert film V-U2 premiered at the venue itself in early November 2024, rather than in traditional cinemas.
According to Pollstar, the U2 shows were not only a critical success but also a commercial triumph. Footage from the performances garnered millions of views and sparked wide engagement across social media. The publication reported that revenue from the residency reached $250 million—a remarkable feat, especially when viewed alongside the global touring success of megastars like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé.
In February 2025, beloved pop group the Backstreet Boys announced their Into the Millennium concert at the Sphere, set to launch in the summer. The event commemorates the 25th anniversary of Millennium, one of the group’s most celebrated albums, with 25 million copies sold worldwide.
Fans had further cause for celebration in early March 2025, with news of three additional shows added to the schedule. Thanks to the Sphere’s cutting-edge visual effects, acoustics and technological innovations, audiences can look forward to an enveloping, emotive experience—a chance to be transported through the Backstreet Boys’ timeless hits and heartfelt ballads. With more artists expected to follow, the Sphere is poised to shape a new era in the concert industry.
