From Unicef partnerships to personal donations, discover how BTS charities support children, education and humanitarian causes.
BTS have made their mark on the music industry, but their influence extends well beyond the stage. Over the years, the seven members have supported a wide range of charitable causes, from children's welfare and education to disaster relief, racial equality and the preservation of Korean cultural heritage. Their contributions include major donations made collectively, long-running partnerships with international organisations and substantial personal gifts to hospitals, schools and charitable foundations.
One of their best-known initiatives is the “Love Myself” campaign with Unicef, which has raised millions for programmes protecting children and young people. The members have also pursued individual philanthropic interests, with RM supporting art and cultural preservation, Suga contributing to healthcare and J-hope becoming a major donor to children's charities. Whether through a collective campaign or a personal donation, here are some of the most notable examples of BTS charities and the causes supported by each member.

BTS’s charitable work as a group
Some of the most significant contributions associated with BTS have come from initiatives involving all seven members and their agency, Big Hit Music. Their collective efforts have supported international humanitarian campaigns, music industry workers and families affected by tragedy.
Unicef Love Myself Campaign
Launched in November 2017 with Unicef Korea, the Love Myself campaign supports efforts to protect children and young people from violence through the #ENDviolence initiative. Funded by BTS, Big Hit Music, album sales and merchandise, the campaign was renewed in 2024 with a focus on youth mental health through Unicef’s #OnMyMind initiative. By March 2024, it had raised more than KRW8.9 billion.
Black Lives Matter
In June 2020, BTS and Big Hit Music donated US$1 million to the Black Lives Matter movement in support of efforts to combat racial injustice. Their contribution inspired fans to launch the #MatchAMillion campaign, raising another US$1 million within 24 hours.
Live Nation’s Crew Nation Relief Fund
BTS and Big Hit Music donated US$1 million to Live Nation’s Crew Nation relief fund in 2020, helping concert crews and touring professionals whose livelihoods were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the cancellation of live events.
MusiCares Charity Auctions
BTS have supported MusiCares, the Recording Academy’s charitable organisation, through benefit auctions featuring their performance outfits and musical memorabilia. In 2021, their colourful Dynamite music video outfits sold for US$162,500 at the MusiCares Charity Relief Auction, with proceeds supporting music professionals affected by the pandemic.
Sewol Ferry Disaster Relief
In January 2017, BTS and Big Hit Entertainment donated KRW100 million to the 4/16 Sewol Families for Truth and A Safer Society, supporting families affected by the 2014 ferry disaster. Each of the seven members contributed KRW10 million, with the agency donating the remaining KRW30 million. The contribution was initially intended to remain private.

How Each BTS Member Supports Charitable Causes
Beyond their collective initiatives, the seven members have also made substantial personal contributions to causes close to their hearts. Their donations have supported children's healthcare, educational opportunities, animal welfare and the preservation of Korean art and heritage. Several have also received recognition from major charitable organisations for their generosity.
RM
RM’s charitable giving focuses largely on art education and Korean cultural heritage. He donated KRW100 million to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in 2020 to distribute art books to public libraries, followed by KRW100 million donations to the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation in both 2021 and 2022 to support the restoration of Korean artefacts overseas. In September 2026, he gave another KRW100 million to the National Museum of Korea to help acquire artefacts for its collection.
Jin
A supporter of Unicef Korea since 2018, Jin joined its Honors Club in May 2019 after his contributions exceeded KRW100 million. He has also supported animal welfare, donating pet food, bowls and blankets to organisations including the Korean Animal Welfare Association and Korea Animal Rights Advocates in 2018.
Suga
Suga has focused his charitable contributions on healthcare and disaster relief. In February 2020, he donated KRW100 million to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association to support emergency relief during Daegu’s COVID-19 outbreak. The following year, he gave another KRW100 million to Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital to help fund cancer treatment for children from low-income families.
J-hope
A longstanding supporter of ChildFund Korea, J-hope has donated substantial sums towards children’s healthcare, education and welfare. In February 2026, he contributed KRW200 million to Seoul Asan Medical Center's children's hospital, KRW100 million in scholarships and KRW50 million to animal protection organisations. His cumulative donations also earned him membership in ChildFund Korea’s Green Noble Trinity Club, which recognises donors who have contributed at least KRW1 billion.
Jimin
Jimin has consistently supported education and children’s welfare through donations to schools and regional education foundations. His contributions include KRW100 million to the Jeonnam Future Education Foundation in 2020 and approximately KRW100 million to the Gangwon Education Scholarship Foundation in 2022. He has also supported his former school in Busan, the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation and paediatric healthcare initiatives.
V
Although details of V’s individual charitable contributions are less widely publicised, he has participated in BTS’s collective philanthropic initiatives, including the “Love Myself” campaign and the group’s donations to humanitarian causes.
Jung Kook
In April 2023, Jung Kook donated KRW1 billion to Seoul National University Children’s Hospital to help cover medical expenses for children from low-income families and support its integrated care centre. The hospital confirmed the contribution, which remains one of the largest publicly reported individual donations by a BTS member.
BTS’s philanthropy beyond music
From their long-running partnership with Unicef to individual donations supporting hospitals, schools and cultural institutions, BTS have contributed to a remarkably diverse range of causes. Their collective initiatives have helped fund international humanitarian efforts, while their personal donations have provided direct support to communities and organisations across South Korea.
