The Astro Showcase Evening and 'Liar' finale screening saw guests from the media house, as well as local celebrities, come together to discover what Astro has to offer its viewers
Despite it being a Friday evening, guests turned up in style and on time to the St Regis Kuala Lumpur for the Astro Showcase Evening and Liar finale screening party.
The grand affair saw members of the royal family, a host of celebrities from Astro television personalities to actors and actresses as well as singers come in full support of the media house which is not only revolutionising the local media scene, but also the way the company performs. The “new Astro” as Euan Daryl Smith, the group CEO, describes it, ensures more value to users as well as an aim to become a one-stop platform for entertainment—be it in terms of sports, TV series, films or locally produced content, which also boosts the Malaysian acting scene.

A Gorgeous Gala
After guests had their share of taking photos at the main photo wall, they were ushered in to their seats before the night began. Che Puan Sarimah Ibrahim was the beautiful emcee of the night, who welcomed guests and ensured the event flowed smoothly throughout.
Following a short speech from Euan, guests were serenaded by the lovely vocals of Jaclyn Victor, as dinner commenced. Of course, as there were other singers in the house, Victor enlisted the help of some of her friends to join her in a couple of renditions. Dasha Logan chimed in for one part, and then Datuk Syafinaz Selamat wowed the audience with her soprano vocal range.
Then a preview of shows available on Astro was viewed, before the screening of the finale of Liar—a local adaptation of a BAFTA-nominated British thriller series highlighting the deception, misunderstanding, and gender bias surrounding a school teacher who accuses a respected surgeon of rape. Guests at the event got to watch the highly anticipated final episode of the series which stars Tony Eusoff, Tizz Zaqyah, and Jalaluddin Hassan, to name a few,
The night ended soon after the stars of the show and those who made the production possible took a final bow in front of all the guests, and were then asked some questions about the production by the emcee. Attendees walked home with a goodie bag of chocolate that featured names of shows on Astro, as well as an exclusive VIP Lane card.
