Women in the gaming community have not had it easy, and yet Alodia Gosiengfiao-Quimbo, Kyedae, and Biancake succeeded in elevating it
Being in a "male-dominated" industry, female gamers have been subjected to extreme toxicity and sexist remarks. While most games would tell you to just mute the offenders, it doesn't tackle the systemic issue ingrained in the population.
But there have been women who said enough is enough—who stood against the oppressors and gave many others a voice. Here, we look at Alodia Gosiengfiao-Quimbo, Kyedae, and Biancake—content creators who made their mark on the gaming community.

Kyedae Alicia Shymko started streaming on October 31, 2020. Though most of her viewers came from her pro-player boyfriend, TenZ, she has then created her audience and cemented herself as one of the most impactful and recognisable content creators on Twitch. While she occasionally runs into toxic players while streaming, she does not keep quiet about it. And when a fellow woman is hit by toxicity, she is the first to speak up and defend herself.
With over two million followers and an average of 11,000 viewers per stream, she has inspired more women to pick up streaming and gaming.
Kyedae has a special place in the Filipino gaming community's hearts, whether she streams while cooking chicken adobo or visiting the beautiful sands of Boracay. Starting as a cosplayer in 2003, Alodia Gosiengfiao-Quimbo has a massive passion for gaming and anime. She’s made multiple international appearances representing the Philippines, and in 2014, she tapped into her inner gamer and started streaming on Twitch. While she usually plays Dota 2 and League of Legends, she calls herself a variety streamer as she plays any game as soon as it comes out. She co-founded Tier One Entertainment, the biggest gaming and e-sports entertainment agency in Southeast Asia.
Gosiengfiao-Quimbo opened the doors for many aspiring professional players in the region. She was one of the first Filipinos who made a stellar career out of gaming and cosplaying in the Philippines. Her influence inspires many others, hailing her as a pinnacle of cosplay excellence in the country.

Bianca Yao, also known as Biancake, started gaming when she was 10 years old. She joined the competitive scene when she turned 13 and became a shout caster for MineskiTV shortly after. Though she was a student then, she didn't let anything stop her from pursuing her passion. She stayed in e-sports to prove everyone who doubted her wrong—to show that gaming wouldn't hinder your studies but could lead to growth.
Most recently, she hosted an event called "Girl Talk", where women in the gaming industry talk about their experiences freely.
