The royal ball awaits as Repertory Philippines invites everyone to experience the magic of kindness and courage with its upcoming production of ‘Cinderella: The Tale of the Glass Slipper’

Repertory Philippines (REP) is preparing a royal ball for young audiences and the entire family. From August 22 to December 13, the theatre company will present Cinderella: The Tale of the Glass Slipper at the REP Eastwood Theater. Serving as this year’s offering for the Repertory Theater for Young Audiences (RTYA), the musical adaptation aims to charm audiences while reminding them that dreams can indeed come true.

Directed by Joy Virata and Cara Barredo, this fresh take on the classic fairy tale features a book, music and lyrics by Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman. The creative duo is well-known for adapting beloved children’s stories into stage musicals, having previously worked on REP productions such as Alice in Wonderland and Snow White and the Prince.

The production showcases eight main characters and is structured with quick, short scenes. This format is particularly crafted to keep young audiences entertained and engaged while delivering important lessons about resilience and consideration for others. Alongside familiar fairy tale favourites—such as Cinderella, the Prince, the Fairy Godmother, the Stepmother and the two Stepsisters—audiences will also meet Putterman, a mischievous rat who helps the titular heroine on her journey.

For this staging, REP has assembled a company of seasoned theatre actors, emerging stars and performers. The title role of Cinderella is shared by three talents: actress-singer Katie Bradshaw, Swiss-Filipina performer Ornella Brianna and Star Magic trainee and Ateneo Blue Repertory alumna Julia Santiago. Alternating as the Prince are Radson Flores and Khalil Tambio, with Lance Soliman serving as cover.
