A new creative learning centre in the heart of Rockwell promises an inclusive space for beginners, hobbyists and aspiring creatives to explore their passion for the arts
The pursuit of creativity is often hindered by the misconception that one must possess innate talent or an established portfolio to begin. Challenging this notion, Artist Atelier Philippines (ARTa) has officially opened its creative learning centre at the Kirov Tower, Proscenium at Rockwell in Makati City. The newly established hub is dedicated to making the visual and literary arts accessible to everyone, regardless of prior experience.
ARTa offers a diverse range of foundational and intermediate programmes in drawing, watercolour, acrylic painting and writing. Designed to build strong technical skills whilst encouraging personal creative expression, the classes cater to children, teens and adults. To ensure a seamless entry into the arts, no portfolio is required for basic and beginner classes, and the registration fee includes beginner-friendly art materials.

In addition to its core curriculum, the centre provides specialised workshops such as weaving and floral arrangement, as well as private group sessions and corporate workshops designed to foster team engagement and collaboration. It aims to offer voice lessons soon as well.
“ARTa is my advocacy in sharing the love of art and making creativity accessible to everyone. I hope to inspire people of all ages and skill levels to explore their creativity and discover art as a lifelong source of expression, connection and personal growth,” shares Elena Coyiuto, owner of Artist Atelier Philippines.

What sets ARTa apart is its commitment to professional instruction and mentorship, guided by a faculty of distinguished artists and educators.
Leading the drawing programmes for adults, children and teens is Noel Layon Flores, a highly experienced creative director and visual development lead. With over two decades of experience spanning television, film and publishing, Flores currently serves as the creative lead for visual development at GMA Network Inc, where he played a pivotal role in the live-action adaptation of Voltes V and the ongoing expansion of the Encantadia franchise. A passionate educator, he also teaches production design at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and specialises in world-building and character design.

Joining the faculty for drawing and painting is Wilfredo “Offe” Offemaria Jr, an award-winning painter whose works explore heritage, faith and identity. A fine arts graduate from the University of Santo Tomas, Offemaria’s works have been exhibited internationally in countries such as Belgium, Germany, the United States and the Netherlands. His teaching philosophy at ARTa encourages students to view art not merely as the creation of beautiful works, but as a means to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.
Roberto Martin Sing brings his diverse expertise to the painting faculty, teaching students across all age groups. After winning the first Mandaluyong painting competition in 2015, Sing explores themes like tranquil waters, cityscapes and the human form using a wide array of media, including oil, pastel, gouache and egg tempera. An active member of collectives such as the Philippine Pastel Artists and The Outdoor Archivists, Sing is dedicated to continuous learning and sharing his passion through workshops and private lessons.

Looking ahead, ARTa plans to expand its creative offerings significantly. Future programming includes artist talks, exhibitions, family activities and community events. The centre also aims to establish collaborations with schools, companies and local organisations to further promote arts education and creative learning.

Artist Atelier Philippines is located at Unit 203, 2nd Floor, Kirov Tower, Proscenium at Rockwell, Estrella Street, Makati City. The centre is open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 6pm. Before assuming the Art and Culture Editor position, Franz has always had a penchant for visual and performing arts. He is passionate about exploring and writing about the local cultural scene and rediscovering the country’s storied past and rich heritage. Besides working on this luxury lifestyle magazine, Franz is an avid book reader, local traveller, museum-goer, chorister, and community theatre playwright.
Work
Franz earned a degree in Journalism from the University of Santo Tomas. He writes about local visual and performing artists and their craft; drinks wines, liquors, and spirits and talks about the creativity of their respective winemakers and master blenders; tries to learn more about business and investments; respects the tradition and artistry that go behind the making of watches and jewellery; and appreciates the genius of architecture and creative design.
As head of Tatler Philippines’ pool of writers, he helps them bring impactful and socially relevant stories to light.
