Through Art Moments Jakarta, Filipino artists are able to foster cross-cultural exchange and enhance the appreciation of Philippine creativity
At this year’s Art Moments Jakarta, an annual fair and one of the most important art events in Southeast Asia, 25 galleries from eight different countries are set to feature their respective works and pieces. From August 18 to 20, DF Art Agency, the sole exhibitor from the Philippines, will be promoting and celebrating the unique artistic vision of the country on a global stage.

“Our exhibit serves as a testament to the burgeoning creativity within the Philippines and the dynamic role that we play in nurturing and showcasing these talents,” says Derek Flores, founder of DF Art Agency.
The talents will showcase a collection of works by bringing their distinctive voice and perspective to the forefront, contributing to the rich cultural mosaic of Philippine contemporary art. Get to know some of the participating Filipino artists below.
Anna Bautista
Based in Manila, Anna Bautista is known for her pieces that feature the Philippine terno, the abaniko, and renditions of the Maria Clara. Her use of textiles and contemporary vision in traditional painting reinforces her position in the industry.

Cedrick Dela Paz
Born in Pasig City, Cedrick Dela Paz is a Filipino artist who studied Fine Arts at Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST) Manila. He considers his works as unconventional figurism art—distorting human anatomy as a way of showing the emotions of his subjects.
Tita Halaman
The artist Tita Halaman is known for her dark, melancholic figures coupled with loud, textured strokes of paint overlapping their frame. Each of her works has its own handwritten poem, to reveal the beauty of the bold, raw emotion behind the stories she wants to narrate.

Demi Padua
Born in 1977, Demi Padua has been a master at the game since time immemorial. His works playfully engage with trompe l’oeil techniques to present the varying visages of his childhood imagination and fantasies.
Ian Anderson
The artist Ian Anderson is known for his signature pen and ink technique. Because of his “micro art” and unique patterns in his artworks, his first solo exhibition was commissioned by Cartoon Network, which eventually led him to his teaching career in California.

Lilianna Manahan
The 2016 Gen.T honouree describes her work as “humorous, curious and valuable”. Despite growing up in an artistic family, the sheer originality of her aesthetic and staunch work ethic has propelled her into a trajectory of her own success. She is now a renowned designer in her own right.
Marrie Saplad
A self-instructed artist and born in 1984, Marrie Saplad made her mark in the Philippine contemporary art scene with her still-life themes featuring everyday objects in monochrome. The artist’s minimalist and monochromatic style has been widely recognised by her collectors.
Sean Go
Sean Go is a familiar name in the art scene. Born and raised in Manila, he was sent to the United States to expand his reach and broaden his horizons. He is known for his cheeky pop art style that takes inspiration from childhood icons and playfully infuses them with modern pop culture.

Yanna Guillermo
Yanna Guillermo is a visual artist born in the 20th century. “If you know me, you would know that I would paint what recently comes to my interest,” she says in an Instagram post. “I began reading a bit about bees and found out that bees and flowers have a symbiotic relationship meaning they both benefit from each other. This has been going on for millions of years. This has inspired To 100 Million Years and More as a painting about friendship.”
Taichi Kondo
Based in the Philippines, Taichi Kondo is an artist of Japanese heritage. His paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally and internationally. They focus on motifs from both nations he came from, which he calls Japinoysme.
