Art House and Ateneo Art Gallery have teamed up to bring fine and dandy collectibles and keepsakes from the Fernando Zóbel Centennial Collection. Here’s a sneak peek and where to get them
Art is more accessible when incorporated into objects that are otherwise ordinary. When Art House and Ateneo Art Gallery (AAG) joined forces, it wasn’t simply a matter of slapping sketches onto souvenirs, it was a thoughtful fusion of heritage and utility to honour the legacy of Fernando Zóbel.
Since its inception in 2022, Art House has been nudging Filipino art out of the gallery and into the lives of curious passersby. It does so through public installations, exhibitions or cleverly crafted merchandise such as the ones consumers can now find inside the gallery when they explore the Fernando Zóbel Centennial Collection.

“Art House is proudly rooted in the Philippines and so everything we do is centred on telling stories about our country. Our initiative with Ateneo Art Gallery brings art closer to the younger generation by making it more accessible and affordable. That, for us, is a crucial part of this endeavour,” says Art House founder Carlo Pineda.
He adds that it is incredibly meaningful that this latest collaboration celebrates the works of Zóbel. “We’re not only honouring his legacy, but also creating new ways to educate and engage the next generation of art lovers. That’s one of our guiding goals: to make art more available, more tangible and more relevant for young people.”

Travel Sketches by Fernando Zóbel
Travel sketches by the artist, created while he was travelling around the Northern region of the country were the chosen artworks featured for the Centennial Collection. AAG’s Director and Chief Curator, Ma. Victoria “Boots” Herrera elaborates, “Zóbel left behind many notebooks containing drawings. Most of them are now in Spain, but there is one notebook in the AAG that showcases drawings from his Ilocos travels.”
“It is important for us to emphasize the importance of drawings and other artistic practices that are often overlooked,” Herrera emphasises Sketches by Zóbel featured in the Centennial Collection include: Batac Funeral, Glan Soldier, Cabugao, Paoay Church, Sta Lucia and Dr Buenaventura. These sketches reveal another facet of the artist that was dedicated to bring academic research on Philippine art and culture.
