This year, software company Craft Documents revealed the best locations around the world for freelancers, analysing such metrics as transportation costs, the number of coworking spaces, internet speed, the average price of a coworking hot desk, the average rental cost of a one-bedroom property in the city's centre, the average Airbnb nightly cost, food costs, and the number of coworking spaces, all of which are particularly appealing to digital nomads and remote workers.

It’s no surprise that Penang made it to the top of the list as the best location for global freelancers, given the variety of flexible and affordable coworking spaces in city centres. The rise of freelance jobs in the gig economy and flexible work options have doubtless made Penang a hotspot for creatives, boasting these attractive co-working spaces in locations like George Town, Bayan Lepas, and more.
