Usher in the new year with new perspectives by paying a visit to Ciane Xavier's multimedia exhibition at Vinyl on Vinyl
“Art is a world within Xavier’s own otherworldliness in which her creations make a turn for the bizarre upon the realization that they are a reflection of one’s innermost terrors,” says James Luigi Tana, who curated the exhibition of self-taught artist Ciane Xavier. “Her body of work exists in its own universe and the possibility is endless.”

Xavier’s art has been showcased across the country. The artist has also been quite active in the field as she’s participated in group exhibitions and art fairs overseas.

Art lovers can explore the mind of Xavier through the new exhibit which features remarkable sculptures and paintings of female figures that tackle identity loss and society. Titled "There is a world going on outside the world that I'm in", Xavier enters the realm of consciousness that could be potentially bridged through the merging of technology and art.
"The unknown becomes familiar, and the familiar becomes unknown," Tana wrote in his exhibition notes. "The liveliness of these life forms is quantised as each emits discharges that fill up the entire gallery space. Using virtual reality in designing a game-like experience, becomes Xavier's own distinct approach to engaging with the audience beyond the actual physical exhibition while going through an invigorating process of continuously deconstructing and reconstructing the self."
With sculptural installations, assemblages featuring digital art, paintings, and virtual reality pieces that complete the gallery's space in the "metaverse", Xavier's show explores further the conversations that sprung up in our society in recent years such as mental health, body positivity, and the second phase of the rise of digital art using virtual reality. Intimate and introspective as it may seem, the show's featured pieces magnify the artist's thoughts further and deeper, making it an interactive exhibition and visual conversation.
