The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh

He was the leading figure of the Pop Art movement in the 1960s, Andy Warhol was a pivotal American artist who profoundly influenced the relationship between art, celebrity and mass consumer culture. His iconic works, often employing commercial techniques like silkscreen printing, transformed everyday objects like Campbell's soup cans and celebrity portraits of figures such as Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley into fine art. His art challenged the traditional notions of artistic originality and value while simultaneously embracing and critiquing the pervasive imagery of post-war American society.

The museum’s collection includes works from the artist’s entire artistic output—from 1940s student work to 1980s collaborations. The museum dedicated four floors to showcase an ever-changing selection of Warhol’s artwork; it also features a permanent film and video gallery for viewing individual Warhol films and videos.

Visit the museum at 117 Sandusky Street Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15212 USA. Opening hours are 10am - 5pm, Wednesdays - Mondays. Closed on Tuesdays.

Museo Frida Kahlo, Mexico City

Often referred to as La Casa Azul because of its vibrant cobalt-blue walls, the historic house and art museum is dedicated to the life and work of the renowned Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo. The museum is the actual house where she was born and lived for most of her life, offering visitors a glimpse into Kahlo’s world—her creativity, personal struggles with health, and the cultural context in which she lived.

The museum showcases a vast collection of Kahlo's personal belongings, including her clothing, jewelry, and even her art supplies. Visitors will also find original paintings, sketches, and other works by Frida Kahlo, as well as art by Diego Rivera and a collection of Mexican folk art and pre-Hispanic artifacts.
