Here’s everything you can watch for free during the Philippine screening of the Argentine Film Festival 2023
Five thought-provoking films will be showcased in the Philippine screening of the 2023 Argentine Film Festival. This year, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), in partnership with Shang Properties and the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in the Philippines, will provide free screenings of Made in Argentina, Un Lugar El Mundo, Argentina 1985, Sur, and El Exilio de Gardel at the Red Carpet EDSA Shangri-La from September 28 to 30.

1. Argentina 1985
Argentina 1985 is a legal drama produced and directed by Santiago Mitre who is known for his works The Student (2011), Paulina (2015), and The Summit (2017). The story follows the 1985 trial of the Juntas where members of the Argentine military government, operating under the dictatorship of the National Reorganisation Process, are brought to justice for their involvement in human rights violations, disappearances, and crimes against humanity during that dark period of the country's history.
2. Sur (The South, 1988)
Sur (The South) is a 1988 film directed by Fernando “Pino” Solanas. It is inspired by a short story written by Adolfo Bioy Casares. The film revolves around a woman who discovers an old box with letters and photographs belonging to her deceased father.
This discovery prompts her to embark on a journey to the south of Argentina where her father spent time in his youth.

3. El Exilio de Gardel
El Exilio de Gardel: Tangos (Tangos, the Exile of Gardel) is a film by Fernando Solanas. It is a non-linear narrative that combines elements of drama, comedy, and music. The film is known for its exploration of themes related to identity, exile, and the cultural significance of tango music.
4. Made in Argentina
Juan José Jusid’s Made in Argentina (also known as Hecho en Argentina) is a 1987 film that follows the story of Marta (Vera Fogwill), Juan (Darío Grandinetti), Lila (Cecilia Dopazo), and Andrés (Gaston Pauls), whose stories are woven together to produce a plot that explores self-discovery.

5. Un Lugar En El Mundo
Un Lugar en el Mundo (A Place in the World) is a 1992 film directed by Adolfo Aristarain. Its plot delves into the themes of social justice and challenges faced by marginalised rural communities in Argentina.
