Commemorate Mr Lee Kuan Yew's 100th birth anniversary through immersive exhibitions and more
The 100th birth anniversary of the founding father of modern Singapore, the late Lee Kuan Yew, certainly calls for commemoration. A man of great foresight and strong leadership, the country’s first Prime Minister is fondly remembered by Singaporeans for his dedication to the country as one of the key players who transformed a budding nation into the economic powerhouse it is today.
The Singapore art scene is paying tribute this month through exciting and educational art exhibitions and film projects, immortalising Lee’s achievements and encouraging Singaporeans to recall the arduous journey our forefathers took in building our great nation.

Now Is Not the Time
Singapore’s path to modernity was steered through Lee Kuan Yew’s vision and values, something that virtual production and animation house X3D Studio celebrates in this immersive art exhibition. Celebrating the life and legacy of Singapore’s first Prime Minister. The achievements of Mr Lee and his contribution to modern Singapore are captured through virtual production, and artificial intelligence.
Students from Lasalle College of the Arts Film School and New York-based contemporary artist Daniel Arsham are among the artists honouring Lee’s dedication to transforming Singapore into an economic powerhouse. Journey through notable events and challenges in Singapore’s history with the exhibition “Now Is Not the Time”, whose title reminds visitors to continue the legacy Lee had left behind by embracing opportunities in creativity and innovation.

LKY100 - The Boy Who Became Prime Minister
The Children’s Museum proves that all generations can appreciate Lee Kuan Yew’s story with its exciting exhibition for children. Aiming to educate young visitors’ on Singapore’s development through the life and values of Lee, the museum playfully combines education and playtime. Programmes include interactive storytelling sessions, hands-on craft workshops, and a fun mystery box challenge.

LKY100: The Life and Legacy of Lee Kuan Yew (1923-2015)

As part of the National Museum of Singapore’s digital trail chronicling Lee Kuan Yew’s life and legacy, local filmmaker Royston Tan honours Lee’s contribution to Singapore with the poignant film, LKY100: The Life and Legacy of Lee Kuan Yew (1923-2015). The film features a special message from the founding father, collaged through a selection of his key speeches, including those delivered in English, Malay, Mandarin, and Hokkien and the first televised National Day Rally in 1971. Remembered as a firm and charismatic speaker, Tan captures Mr Lee’s aura of strong leadership through his speeches. The film will be presented in the concluding section of the museum’s Singapore History Gallery.
The film serves as a companion to a digital trail within the museum which immortalises the achievements and historical significance of Lee’s contribution in relation to Singapore’s successful development. To join the digital trail, simply scan a QR code at the Singapore History Gallery. Visitors who complete the trail may redeem a gift inspired by Lee’s iconic red box.
