Described as a tropical modern estate, the luxury home is now open for viewings, both in the real world in Miami and virtually in the Sandbox—in the “first-ever open-house in the metaverse”

Meta Residence One, the world’s first real-life NFT mansion, is now on the market for US$13 million.

The seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom luxury home, which sits on a 47,480 sq ft lot and has 8,263 sq ft of interior space, is located in the coveted Miami suburb of Pinecrest, while its 1:1 virtual equivalent is in the Sandbox in the metaverse. The properties are for sale on the blockchain through a live auction via Miami-based One Sotheby’s International Realty, which will begin on April 19. The winning bidder will have ownership rights to both the brick-and-mortar home and its virtual counterpart.

“Being a part of this unique experience and watching it come to life, both physically and in the Metaverse, is exhilarating,” says One Sotheby’s International Realty vice president Michael Martinez, who is one of two agents listing the property. “The similarities between the virtual and real-life counterparts are impressive, and the future owner of the property is getting a one-of-a-kind residence.”

“With real estate being one of the most traditional industries in today’s world, I am very passionate about combining it with more technology, specifically blockchain,” adds Kiki Rutten, global real estate advisor at One Sotheby’s International Realty, who is co-listing. “I envision the future of real estate to be quick, fast, simple and secure.”
